Nice refreshing mint flavor, but a bit waxy for my taste.
Many of us in the dental profession are mourning the loss of Gentle Gum Care woven floss (formerly made by Reach, then Listerine). It’s been the profession’s favorite (my opinion) for years. No one knows what happened to it- you just can’t find it anywhere. So what’s the best alternative? I decided to try out a few candidates.Cocofloss (26 cents/yd)- good sturdy floss, slightly coarse texture, medium thickness, subtle coconut flavor.Dr. Tung’s Smart Floss (14.4 cents/yd)- thickest of the bunch, very soft texture, slight cardamom flavor.Xlent Expandable Floss with Charcoal (~10 cents/meter)- medium thickness, waxy texture, nice mint flavor.Hayden Expanding Floss (~10.5 cents/yard)- only slightly thicker than normal floss, medium texture, subtle mint flavor.First a word about expandable flosses- they only expand when you are not pulling on them. But flossing involves pushing and pulling and scraping up and down. You can’t floss your teeth effectively without putting pressure on the floss. So when you’re flossing, they are not expanded. All four of these flosses splay a bit when flossing, to look more like ribbon. The thicker the floss, the more it splays. So which do I like the best? I like Dr. Tung’s. I love the thickness and the soft, fluffy texture. And I happen to like cardamom, though I will admit it’s not as refreshing as mint. It is a bit more expensive than the cheaper flosses in the group, but not on the level of Cocofloss. I think it’s worth the extra pennies. Cocofloss is good if you want a coarser texture to make it feel like you’re really scraping your teeth, and if you don’t mind paying a hefty premium. Xlent floss was a bit too waxy for my taste, and the black color is a bit odd (though I can’t see it when it’s in my mouth). But I liked its flavor the best and it feels like it does a good job. So if you want the cheapest, but effective floss, it’s the best value. Hayden floss is better than regular floss, but it comes in a distance fourth for me. Of course, you will likely have a different order than I do. But hopefully, this will give you some idea what they’re like.Final note- none of these flosses feel the same as our beloved Gentle Gum Care woven floss. And all of them are more expensive. But to their credit, none of them come unraveled like our favorite woven floss tended to do. And all of them will do a fine job removing plaque. Once I get over the mourning period, I will probably like Dr. Tung’s just as much. RIP

Nice alternative to the commercial flosses available in the U.S.
Once upon a time, J&J sold this wonderful dental floss made of some expandable material infused it with fluoride. Then, inexplicably, they stopped selling it, and we're stuck with the generic spools of nylon. Oh, you can still find tape floss and expandable floss, but it's just not the same thing. So I began a search for the perfect floss, and stumbled upon this Italian product. The charcoal and xylitol give it excellent tooth cleaning characteristics, and the floss itself expands, not quite the gentle approach of the J&J Reach, but still an improvement over nylon thread. It's not cheap, but what you get is something that's good for your teeth. Charcoal, by the way, has been used for centuries to clean teeth and works very well. If this product were also infused with fluoride (perhaps as an optional alternative, since some oppose the use of fluoride), it would be close to perfect.

Best Floss Ever 😁
This is the best floss I've ever used in my life! It's SO much more effective than the regular commercial brands. The floss is thicker, well waxed, it has a minty taste, and it gets all the gunk out from between your teeth without a fuss. This floss feels so comfortable expanding and passing in between my teeth. My old floss left particles between my teeth, sent pieces flying everywhere, and just didn't do the job right. My mom couldn't even get her floss to go between her teeth without a painful struggle. Now my whole family is totally devoted to this floss. I had no idea floss could be this good, and without the chemicals! I love it and so will you!

Cleans teeth really well!
I was so sad the the Oral B Ultra Floss was discontinued as I had used it for at least a decade. I have tried many different types of floss in the past year and really like this one because I feel that it cleans my teeth really well. The mint flavor is refreshing and I like the addition of charcoal. Other flosses I like are Dr. Tung's Smart Floss and Cocofloss, but the latter is a bit beyond my budget at this time. Will definitely order this floss again!

Plaque disclosing floss
I'm a longtime fan of fluffy floss. After Oral-B discontinued Ultra Floss , I switched to Dr. Tung’s Smart Floss , but the small (30 yd) rolls are expensive. When I saw that Xlent offers 50 yd - PLUS xylitol and charcoal - I made the switch. I also like the bold mint flavor, which really lasts. But let me tell you...I was floored to see all that plaque exposed to the light. With white floss, I never knew how much mess I was leaving behind, and I thought I had good technique! Now, I know my specific "problem spots," and I'm flossing *much* more effectively ... and twice (before and after brushing).

More pros than cons
Pros: chemical free, good grip due to the wax, black floss shows you how much plaque you’re scraping off, pleasant flavor, expandable.Cons: not for very tight fitted teeth, I have to use a different floss for my really tight molars as this floss won’t fit between even though it’s expandable, it’s still too thick.I would love if they came out with a thinner version that would fit really tight spaces.
