but the end result was very nice, if a bit colorless
I bought this for my nephew as he was having some issues with reading in school.I copied the pages onto card stock, cut them out with a paper cutter, and rounded the corners. It was quite a bit of work, but the end result was very nice, if a bit colorless.Last I heard, he quite enjoyed the games and played them from time to time. I looked through the games and was very impressed with them. They did seem like they'd be fun to play, and would definitely encourage reading just by their very nature.

Best book of the series!
I have purchased all three of the titles in this series and have found this one the most useful. Currently I am using the card games with Grade 4 students to work in groups and taking on different roles within the group. The games in this book provide a range of highly engaging and motivating topics for thinking and discussion. Students with a wide range of abilities can play them effectively and get a lot out of it!

They are quick and easy to learn
Bought this book (along with the vocabulary card games) to use with my speech-language students. They are quick and easy to learn, but provide my students with a challenge. My 3rd - 7th grade students enjoy them and request to play them the last 5-10 minutes of each session.

I was hoping g for something fun to work with my son's reading
Not quite what I expected. I was hoping g for something fun to work with my son's reading. Seems almost cheap and my son had no interest in it

Love!
This is the third book of scholastic card games I have purchased. I love using the games in my 6th grade classroom. My students are always excited when I pull out my bin of Language Arts Card Games and they don't even realize they are learning. The only downside would be the time it takes to copy all the games onto cardstock, laminate, and cut out. When I have the games ready to go, I place each game in a ziplock bag and label it with the title of the game. I usually have my students set up in 6 groups and I give one bag to each group for about 10 minutes, then I switch the games amongst the groups.

very misleading
Based on the front and back cover I was expecting actual reading comprehension games, not vocabulary/word games.I actually thought there was a publication error and the wrong games were included. In my opinion, games like 'Which word doesn't belong', and 'how two word are the same or different' are more language activities not reading comprehension. Not sure I will ever use these.

Great games, just be aware that you have to photocopy the sheets and then laminate them. Games are just ready for you to use. But very pleased with my purchase my KS1 pupils truly enjoy it
