Everyone NEEDS a set of these if they ever drive on dirt/mud/snow.... so much so, I will gladly repeat Everyone needs a set of these. This is my 2nd set. They are an little longer than the first, which I like

Proper Application to the proper task is the key.
I just got these in the mail and have not used them. That said, after looking at them, they appear robust enough if used properly. They appear to be useful for situations in which the tire is in the midst of somewhat deep loose material such as mud, gravel, sand, snow, slush, or a combination. If you are simply spinning tires because you are on sloped icy pavement, they do not appear to work in that application being that they are a hard, kinda waxy, plastic. I can envision the wheel shooting them out from underneath in that application. Again, the construction material is a rather slick plastic, but as can be seen from the photos, there are wedges molded into the plastic, that when properly oriented, should dig into both the tire tread and the thick material under the tire(i.e. sand, gravel, mud, snow, slush, etc.) that the vehicle is stuck in. Needless to say, common sense (which seems less common these days) dictates that no one should be standing in line with the spinning wheel in any application, just in case the spinning wheel does spit them out. In addition to carrying these traction aids, we will carry a folding shovel which I believe is important to use in conjunction with traction strips. When stuck, usually you will be trying to get out of a hole dug by the spinning wheel when it got stuck. It is important to dig out the material on the side of all 4 wheels in the direction which you plan on moving before laying down the traction strips. The best you can hope for is rolling the wheels up a slight slope, not totally climbing out of a hole. Lastly, the so-called english instructions are largely incoherent and were obviously written by someone who thinks they no english, but doesn't. That said, this is not rocket science and the application of logic and common sense will enable the user to determine the proper way to use these. In conclusion, IMHO, they appear capable enough to get a vehicle unstuck when properly employed.

Probably Works, but Low Effort Design
Purchased these after a snowstorm, and we haven't had much snow since. It probably works but I have not had a chance to try them. Reason for 3 stars: instructions say the mats have a definite top and bottom, which puts one side on the snow and the other against the tire. But the "Top Side" marking on the mats is a very poor debossed lettering in the same color plastic that's almost invisible. I filled the lettering in with a sharpie so I'm not fumbling in the snow when I need them (see pictures). Materials & design seem rugged enough for normal use.

Saved my ass
It saved my ass when I got stuck in the parking lot where it was full of snow and my car couldn't move

No traction, no very effective.
I thought I was going to have to inch my way out of the mud as they got me out of one spot, only to stay stuck two feet back. Now the mats are stuck half-way under the tires and my tires are spinning over them. The first time they flew out from under the tires and could have damaged something or hurt someone. They seem sturdy, but flimsy and breakable at the same time. I wish I could say they are good for minimal situations, but they couldn't even help my truck back up and out of a down-hill gravity situation over Florida grass.

Feels solid and strong
We were supposed to go to Pismo beach (California) to ride our UTV last week, but changed our plan last minute. The last time we went there we got stock in the sand so I promised my family the next time we will go there, I’ll. Ring the right tools/accessories It feels very powerful and durable Luckily we didn’t have to try it yet. But I’ll update soon if have any issues. Really awesome product

Compact and potentially very useful
Two of these, folded and stacked, measure 7"x11" x 2"--easily stowable under a car seat. Probably they don't work as well as the full sized traction boards, but you have to be a dedicated off-roader with plenty of roof rack space to carry those. I judge that these would be plenty sturdy enough and work well, on snow. It might take a little more patience than using big boards would, as these are only 21.5" long, unfolded. On rocky uneven surfaces, they might be more likely to break--but in some cases they might even be better than full sized boards, as they will conform more closely to the contours, and won't have a rigid span of more than 11".
