Djembe Drum African Hand Drum Instrument for Adults — NOT MADE IN CHINA — Mahogany Wood / Natural Head 8" x 15.75"

I bought this drum for a college class that required a djembe. It produces pretty good sound quality, and is really well made, especially for the price. The drum is sturdy/heavy, which helps with the sound quality/quality of the drum overall, but tough if you need to carry it around for awhile like I did. The shoulder strap was really helpful for carrying the drum, though it did also dig into my shoulder after a few minutes of carrying. Overall, the drum is great quality, and has decent portability! It's definitely bigger than I anticipated, but the size helps keep you from hunching over too much when sitting down to play.

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!! I LOVE THIS DRUM UNEQUIVOCALLY! As a long time free jazz avant-garde jam band percussionist and drummer, I have played many a hand drum, and honestly, This is the BEST sounding djembe I have ever owned. I can't recommend this highly enough. As a longtime naturalist / Sierra Club and Audubon member, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FACT That this beautifully carved drum is responsibly made from Sustainable (and ethical) wood harvesting practices and is certified as such. Lastly, and Most Importantly, This drum sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL - straight out of the box! While playing along to some of my absolute favorite percussionists like Adam Rudolph, Go: Organic Orchestra and Cyro Baptista, (all of which are truly brilliant percussionists that I would recommend to ANYONE!); I sound like part of the recording due to the wide range and beautiful warm sounds coming from this Magnificent Drum! If you're looking for a GREAT Djembe, GET THIS DRUM!

I didn't know what to expect because of the low price. I am very happy I took a chance on buying this drum. I belong to a drum circle and the sounds I can get from this drum are amazing. It has great high sounds on the rim of the drum and a nice base sound when striking it in the center. The only fault is that it did leave a black mark on my pants after the first . I read that in another review and thought it was a fluke but it was true. I don't wear light clothes now and it did only happen one time. The stain did come out in the wash but I am still going to be careful. If you are looking for a good drum case to carry it in make sure you get the dimensions of the case because the one I bought was a bit too big and I had to use styrofoam to make the drum fit. Happy drumming folks.

Couldn't be happier with this djembe. Was a liiiiiittle scared, u know, buying a musical instrument online.. can't hear it, pictures are cool, but.. so anyway, ordered it, came in time, and tried it: absolutely GREAT sound, great item, very strongly built, not a cheap stuff, I mean.. I just couldn't be more satisfied. Need to mention all the "stuffs" coming with it, booklets, how to tune, how to play, etc etc, guys.. thank you VERY much, I will definitely come back for the next purchase. IF I may make a suggestion..?? perhaps could u include, in the description, a brief video-clip, so potential buyers could actually see, and hear, the product..?? I know it might be a lot of work, but... it might make a difference..??? in any events.. thanks again, sincerely.

This Djembe has a deep, traditional tone, which I really enjoy. I do play it only indoors, as I don't want to worry about the head going out of tune. (Although it is tunable) I really love this Djembe, and so I play it a lot, and from what I've read, it seems like they get even better with age and the more one plays.

Bought as a Christmas gift for someone. Drum seems fine, solid construction and has some weight to it. Biggest issue is that the top of the drum face which is supposed to be white is all scuffed and stained. Looks like the seller sold me a used drum. Not happy with this at all. Considering returning it.

Plutôt joli, de finissions correctes pour le prix, mais décevant au niveau du son de basse. Il n'y a pratiquement pas de différence avec les autres sons. Pourtant la marque Meinl est une référence en la matière. A voir à l'usage quand la peau se sera un peu détendue....
