Q: Is it real, if it is, is it radioactive

It is only slightly radioactive. Most of the radioactivity, consisting of alpha and beta particles emitted by the ore specimen are blocked by the plastic. We check the radioactivity of each ore specimen before it is embedded into plastic.

Q: What is the diameter of the "puck" the uranium comes in? I plan on using it as a coaster at my desk, also is it radioactive enough to cause concern?

Hi Sergio,I apologize for taking so long to respond. But we increased the size of the uranium ore paper weight to approximately 2.5" in diameter and .75" thick. This is a new size and is not yet updated on the Product Listing, but it will be shortly. as far as radioactivity, these are extremely low grade ores. The plastic offers shielding for alpha and beta radiation. We do not detect an appreciable uptick in background radiation when checking the uranium ore paperweight for radioactivity.
