Sigh
Rating is based on the fact I couldn't finish the book. Books I don't finish are one star regardless of the actual quality.I really liked book one. Book two saw a major change in how the author portrayed the MC, the effectiveness of his troops and his own combat effectiveness. The author also started using long duration stuns. Not here or there but every fight. This is a really cheap method of screwing the protagonist which isn't needed since Raytak can't seem to fight his way out of a wet paper bag.Due to the many places where game mechanics are skewed in the opponent's favor, this no longer feels like a balanced game. It feels like a standard fantasy novel where fights are decided upon based on what the author wants to happen, not what a game would produce for results. This is one of the major issues for LitRPG authors and is failed here.I may revisit this book in the future. If I do, I will update the review and rating. Readers who are looking for a story and not intent upon internal consistency, should find the book enjoyable.

great series for litRPG
I usually wait for the second book in a series before leaving a review, just to be sure of the series. In this case, the second book was as enjoyable as the first with a good MC and a very unusual class. The author does not overload you with pages of stats and update sheets on the MC so you don't get lost in that. There were a few editing/tense issues but not enough to make it unreadable. Like the premise and the connection to the MC's real life and issues. You must start with the first book in the series or it will make no sense at all, but they are both good reads and I will be continuing to follow the set as new books appear. Highly recommended.

a budding author with a great story..spoiler alert
A great continuation to the first book. A few tense usage issues in editing for those who really notice those things. Nothing so glaring that detracts from story enjoyment. My only issue and it probably is just me but the set up with the human antagonist and pov transitions felt a little rough. Just my .02 cents. Solid litrpg story without stat overload. The MC has a unique class which i like to think of it as a mobile castle defense with a few upgrades from the imperium so even when he does upgrade you still won't get a stat overload. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite litrpg series and I really can't wait for book 3!

This 'Hero' is a Zero.
This is just painful, the first book was great but in the second book the MC goes from being a veteran soldier and war hero in real life, that gets another chance via Virtual Reality gaming to be a hero again, to a short sighted weakling incapable of winning a fight against a kitten, I can't even finish reading the book and that's rare for me. The repeated deaths removes my support for the MC and the deaths are usually a result of long duration paralyzing or silencing skills which are not anywhere near as long in any game ever created, it also makes the fights seem predicated by the author and he just threw a lame excuse in to justify it, it's a cheap and lazy tactic that removes any joy from his battle sequences. It truly is a shame, as the first book set a great starting point for the 'Hero' to really come into his own and whoop some butt, something I'm sure he's been dying to do since his body began to fail him.

The story just gets better
Book 1 started strong and ended well, and book 2 picks up shamelessly, continuing the story.Conquest was an amazing story. I felt this instalment was stronger with the increased action and intrigue.I will not go into details, but I highly recommend this series.Dean Henegar is an amazing story teller and I cannot wait for the next book.

Problems created and solved
The story line that really bothered me was the corporation getting into in game finance, fortunately this was only a small percentage of the book, and seems to have been resolved. The competition between the 3 polysci students is starting to shape up. Unfortunately not in the best way. First is mayor Delling, the good guy libertarian. Then there is the bad guy authoritarian fascist. And finally there is the, almost unmentioned, incompetent socialist. The question that I have is this, why are so many military personnel obsessed with libertarianism? They have come from a communal experience (the military) but suddenly believe in rugged individualism. Weird. Tom out

Nice little read
For a first effort, I thought the author has done a fine job. Interesting premise, characters that aren't one dimensional and reasonable solid editing. I gave both books 4 stars..they kept me entertained and read at a comfortable pace. Sure it's not Tolkien or Ready Player One but really what is . At times it can get a little predictable or repetitive but the author is trying his best to entertain and not preach. Sense some interesting plot twists coming and looking forward to #3.Give it a try..I'm sure you won't be let down.

Amazing second installment of hopefully a very long series.
The story was excellent, it followed a clear progression and improvements throughout. The story doesn't focus so heavily on the LitRPG aspects, it has a good blend of game mechanics and story, with the mechanics being used as a method to enhance the story.I Look forward to the next installment and will probably re-read both books again withing a week just to enjoy the adventure again!!

What a sequel
Man I tell you that was a great story, still loving the Roman legion reference can't get enough of them, how the mc is developing and how all the different characters make such great story and the ending was real moving. Can't wait for third book and to the author keep up the good work.

An Excellent Sequel!
Another very enjoyable read that moves the story along nicely. The variously aspects of a Roman Legion are building steadily although I will look forward to seeing what emerges as Auxilia support! Please develop next in series early in 2019!

More story than most litrpg
I found this story very enjoyable and pushed through it in a single day. These stories have a much greater focus on the storyline itself than on the litrpg elements, some might find that this results in a slower pacing, but I find it creates a greater depth of story.I do however agree with another reviewer that the sudden conversion of the 'bad company' because they had some bad publicity seemed a bit out of place and not very credible.

Bring it on
Excellent second book in the series and i hope many more to come, builds on nicely to the world that has been created and adds in new links to the MC in regards of his companions.
