The front matter in this book gives advice on technique that helps when following the recipes. I have recommended and bought this book for friends and family. All of them have been pleased with the results of the dishes made. The Rich English Scones (American biscuits) are a staple in the house. We've also enjoyed calzones, bread, and sticky buns. Members of the house have dairy allergies, so I've had to experiment a little with substituting cashew milk and vegetable-based butter. The insight gained from the front of the book helped me dial the adjustments in quicker.

Beautiful cook book
I purchased this book for my husband who loves to bake. He is absolutely thrilled with the cookbook. He especially loves the fact that there are photos of exactly what the baked good should look like.

Like it!
I am enjoying this book. I hesitated to buy it because I had difficulty finding any feedback for it, but I found the photographs very enticing. I love to cook, but I'm not an avid baker and I wanted a book that would add some special desserts to my repertoire for guests, and I also wanted to be challenged to learn more baking skills. I don't think this is the best book for a brand new cook, because for instance there really isn't any instruction on working with yeast or rising, unless I missed it somewhere. That being said, for a generally knowledgeable cook, the instructions for the individual recipes are clear and the recipes I have tried so far have worked out perfectly (crumpets, naan bread, butter cookies with jam&icing filling - truly delectable). So I'm enjoying working my way through the recipes and the photographs motivate me to try new things. There are scones, cakes, cookies, yeast and quick breads, danishes, savory pies & tarts as well. Plenty to keep me busy for a while (plus the exercising I need to do to counterbalance all this baking!)

Don’t miss it
I got lots of good baking books. This is at top of my collection. Good and easy to follow and understand instructions with beautiful photos which make me feel like to make them right away. I am soooo happy I got it. Mine is a used book but in excellent conditions, good price and fast delivery.

What a pleasant surprise
I have lots of baking books and I like to read them. This one surprised me pleasantly. At first it is a very thick book, with a hard cover, partly made from fabric, so it looks quite expensive. the inside is just like a photo diary, how to make every recipe from scratch. so every recipe has several photos of the different stages, and of course of the end result.some of the photographs and recipes looked familiar, she has previously worked for womens Weekly baking books, which I also love. The advantage of this (and those) books is that you can blindly trust it will work. And if it doesn't, you made a mistake :)

This is a beautiful book
I love the feel of this book and the contents do not disappoint either. Beautifully photographed this also includes photographs of stages of the recipe. There are some recipes that I would not agree with - for e.g. the method for welsh cakes, but the nectarine and almond cake is already a favourite and I've tried this with the alternative pear and almond version and it is delicious. I would rate this book and one of the finds of the year.

Amazing Book!
This book was a great surprise it focus on every important step and teaches step by step all you have to do to achieve good pieces. I am 100% portuguese, and of course I leave in Portugal so I was very exited when I saw a recipe for portuguese custard tarts on this book, they are called PASTÉIS DE NATA here and there are a few recipes that vary but this on is the classical one without errors in it. I am very pleased with this purchase. THe pictures through out the book are very impressive. Great Book!

Bought as a gift
I've bought this as a Christmas present for my mum so can't comment yet on how good the recipes are but judging by the appearance, hefty size of the book and taking a quick look at the recipes, it looks good so far! Am very much hoping that the ole' Ma will bake a few treat from the book and get me to sample them! :)
