Unexpected
This book was unexpected in various ways. I love PRN books and I’ve had this book forever and decided to dive in. First of all, I did not see that twist coming. I had to concentrate real hard to understand what was going on!Second, I don’t know who to trust! Aldo needs to start asking the right questions because I need the answers! I was frustrated with Aldo in this book because I felt her immaturity and lack of common sense (pet peeve of mine with MC) but then the twist happened and it all made more sense. I just hope the next book will make me like her a bit more.

What an amazing debut!!! B N Toler knows what she is doing.
Aldo is a healer who along with her brothers are raised by their aunt. All of them are healers, when Aldo meets another healer Aldo falls in love and learns soon much about the world of healers. When Aldo's aunt is murder and Thomas disappears Aldo goes to find him. This is the 1st book by B N Toler, and I must say I love it!!!! I have been hanging around Ms. Toddlers facebook page reading all her post and almost stalking her. The writing is perfect and there were a few parts that had my gut in knots. Aldo is young and her feelings are often mixed, and I found myself feeling the same way. Aldo is often confused by anything dealing with Thomas, then Rhett and who she thinks he is as to what Rhett is proving himself to be. It's all wrapped up in this beautiful story. This books does go back in forth between a 6 year gap at the beginning of this book, not going to lie it didn't warn you on it, I was sometimes confused but figured it out. Other than that it mixes well going to the past had its purpose and sets up the rest of the book.I'm very very excited to read HYBRID!!! I have to know Aldo's story and if she gets her revenge.

A twist I wasn't expecting!
I guess I didn’t read the synopsis before I started this book. I thought it was going to be totally different from what it was. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the story, but the doozie of a twist really threw me.I loved Aldo. She was sweet and trusting and naive. She was the kind of character that you hurt for her when something bad happens to them. Her brothers were funny and typical brother figures, but you really grow to like them to throughout the story. This one was one of those stories that had you thinking “I hope it goes this way” but then you get hit with something that you totally didn’t expect. At least I didn’t expect it. You’ll have to read it to find out the twist, but I think you’ll like it if you do. It isn’t the typical vampire book. There’s romance, fantasy, and lots of heartache in this one. And i personally think it had just about the right amount of each to balance it out and make it a really engaging read. I tore through it, with my husband complaining about the light from my kindle, till late into the night. But it was just one of those stories that I couldn't put down. I really enjoyed this one and I give it 4.5 stars!

Healer (The Healer Series Book 1)
Wow. I just finished Healer and I have to say that I'm hooked. Absolutely, hooked. The premise of the story was solid but the execution was exceptional. Toler weaves a tale of fear, love, lust, betrayal, hope, and redemption all within a few short pages. The characters created a story that completely drew you into it from the very beginning. Poor Aldo. You felt sorry for her and wanted to ring her neck all at the same time. But, she was young so some of her angst was too be expected. At one point in the story the author created a timeline that seemed to jump between the present and the past. It almost seemed like it was fractured but when you get to the end of the story it actually makes sense in why the timeline seemed to merge the present with the past. And speaking of the ending...BLOWN. AWAY! I was not expected that sequence of events at all. It was simply brilliant. As you read along you will not even realize "where" you are until you reach the end and you will be gobsmacked. Yes...gobsmacked. I totally loved the story and the direction of the series. I have already downloaded Hybrid because I'm eager to know what happens next.

WOW Not your normally PNR
I don't normally read PNR but I really like this book. I can't wait for the second one."Submerged in a world of sex, danger, and vampires, will Aldo find the answers she seeks before it's too late?" HEALER There is balance in life most know nothing about. Some are put here to simply exist, while others have been placed here to ensure life. Healers such as Aldo Lawson understand the power of their gift, although at times, it seems more a curse. Upon meeting a handsome young healer named Thomas, Aldo’s life heads into a tailspin. With his arrival, Aldo’s aunt is forced to share a hard and scary truth—vampires exist. And not only do they exist, but they thirst for healer blood. Despite this new and frightening information, Aldo longs for a normal senior year. So close to achieving her goal, her world turns upside down when her aunt is murdered and Thomas disappears. Riddled with questions, she sets out to find him. Submerged in a world filled with sex and danger, Aldo hopes to find the vampires that will lead her to Thomas. When they find her first, she is forced to piece together truths, deal with her pain, and find that not everything is what it seems.

Wow, right out of the gate...
I'm not one to review books unless they are 5+ stars. I think this book qualifies. When recently asked into a book club by a family member, I was told this was the first book we were going to read. As the group has not yet had our first meeting, I'm not sure exactly how this book was chosen. I did something that I never do. I bought this book without looking into it at all. I knew nothing of the plot or category this fell in. I immediately was sucked into Aldo's life from page 1. I felt that I was alongside her the whole time. When her heart was full of joy, mine was as well. Through her struggles and emotional stabs to her heart, I found myself crying along with her. Not many authors can do that, especially just starting out. B N Toler has definitely made her mark in the literary world and if the old rule of "practice makes perfect" hold true for her, she will be here to stay for a long while. I find the only frustration of this book is that the next installment isn't out yet.

New original serie about vampire and healer world
The author gave the book for free but I'd gladly have paid to read it!This is the first book of a new serie about vampire world where healers are seen as a hot commodity. They can heal vampire's victims so they can feed on them endlessly.Aldo and her twin brothers are healers on the run, raised by their aunt and constantly moving states to avoid capture. One day, Aldo meets Thomas, a handsome older healer. She'll fall in love with him while he only play the big brother card. Of course, he is fighting their attraction and can't avoid visiting her dreams. What could easily be a simple read turns tricky with twists and turns and I never saw the end coming. It's well written, constantly switching between past and present events with tension throughout the book.An original world about vampires is born and I'll be happy to read book 2 in 2014.
