Simply to use, easy to clean.
I have never used this type of product, so cannot compair with other bland. It is very simple & easy to use + washing/cleaning is not difficult at all! The handle is comfort to hold on & the metal part is solid. It doesn't take up too much space in the kitchen drawer. But don't expect every corn kernel that you scrab out from the corn cob is in perfect condition. The corn on the cob is not quite in a straight line in some cases, that makes it a bit difficult sometimes. At least, using a corn cutter is safer than using a knife to do the job. This equipment has the cutter underneath the big flat piece metal part, so less risk to cut your finger than using a knife (unless you hold the corn cob & the cutter in a wrong position).Negative side of this is: unlike some other corn cutter design which the blade is visible, the cutter blade is under the metal part. That means you cannot see the corn kernel properly. The first row is quite challenging where to start, how to move the cutter to do the job. Once you have started the first row, then the other rows you just place your cutting blade next to the row that have just emptied, & so on...It is actually a choice of personal preference - if you are not sure you can handle a blade underneath the metal part which make the job not easy, you will be better off to buy those can see the blade so that you don't have to guess the position of the corn.I buy this just because I am more on a safety side, I don't want the blade to expose which is a bit risky in cutting my finger of the juice splash onto my face.More practise makes jobs perfect - after using it a couple of times, it becomes easy to use.I rely on it so much now & won't go back using knife at all.

A tip from an old farm boy.
Iโm 79, and wear dentures and I also love corn on the cob - having been raised on a farm. Dentures and corn on the cob donโt work well together, nearly impossible to make the first bites, so I got this device and itโs great. It digs out a row of kernels, making it easy to continue the devouring process. Love it!

heavy duty corn remover
My son has one when he BBQs corn on the cob and removes the leftovers. Some of my dinner folks don'tlike to chew the corn off the cob=corn cutter. I wish you could remove the corn on the up and down movement, alas only pulling it to you. But other than that a sturdy product and half the cost of the plasticones from the "Big Box" offerings. If you need one get this one.

I should not say that I don't like this product.
This product does do what it is supposed to do; however, it makes an unbelievable mess. That being said, I love fresh corn salad so I am certain I will continue to use it on a regular basis. I just wish there was a way to have it be less messy. Perhaps I should start cutting the fresh corn off the cob outdoors. :-)

gift
It was a waste of money when you can do the same thing with a knife. It's smashes the kernels as well.

I have this product and loved it so much I purchased 2 more. I've lived on a farm for over 50 years and have had a garden that is used to grow our food for the year ahead for years there was no product that did a better job than old faithful knife but when I developed a hand issue it became painful to do things and done 300 or more ears of corn in a few days was about to get impossible my husband bought one of these corn zappers for a fundraiser I tried it with skepticism and have used only it ever since let someone borrow it once and it was nowhere to be found so I bought two more to have as backup. This year when my sister was dreading doing their corn this year because of her hands also I sent one of mine to her to try she was so grateful as I was to find this product that work so well so it is highly recommended by me. If you use it correctly you can easily do creamed corn which is what we mostly do or whole kernel corn it might take some practice but it's worth it
