The Pedal You Don't Think You Need
I had a $60 tuner pedal, and a friend recommended returning it and buying this. I trusted the advice and did (not understanding how the extra cost could possibly be justified), and I'm really glad I did. First, to my surprise, it made my bass guitar sound better. I have a passive pickup in my bass, so the input buffer really helped preserve my signal. Bonus. Second, the display is awesome. I really like the different colors (I use red). Third, it's extremely accurate. Fourth, the strobe feature is phenomenal and provides a sense of satisfaction of getting to a perfect spot, which can be hard with tuners with this level of accuracy. Fifth, it looks really cool on my pedal board. As I bonus in this category, the input and output jacks are lower than most pedals (at least ones I was using), so this allows for it to be placed really close to other pedals because the cable plugs can "stack" versus being side by side. Sixth, the switch is nice and quiet and is very satisfying to turn on and off. Seventh, it's built really well, solid metal, heavy. If there were one downside, it's that the controls aren't super easy. It takes some time to figure out how to do the setup.

Great tuner! Especially for outdoor applications.
I was looking for a tuner with a bright display that worked well for playing outdoor events and the Peterson StroboStomp is perfect. It is most importantly a super accurate tuner, but it's large, bright display makes it ideal for playing shows outdoors where bright sun can render other tuners unreadable. It's built like a tank too and will be part of my pedal board for years to come. Update: After using this pedal for a year and a half there are a couple of drawbacks which other reviewers have also highlighted. The first is the rubber base. It is super heavy duty and works great on most surfaces protecting the surface as well as the pedal, however if you are mounting the pedal on a pedal board as in my application the rubber surface makes attaching velcro strips difficult. It holds for a bit and then needs to be replaced. I have gone through 2 or three replacement strips over the year. The second issue is the placement of the side buttons. This is actually not much of an issue if the pedal is mounted to a board but if you are having to pick up or grab the loose pedal you would hit those and have to find your setting again. Others have complained about the screen being fragile and while it is probably the weakest part of the incredibly well built case I haven't had any issues. I ended up leaving the plastic film over the screen on which the pedal shipped with and it hasn't affected the performance at all. I also keep the tuner on my pedal board and take it to gigs in a case which I would recommend.

The King of Tuners
Better than the Boss TU-3, better than the Polytune, better than every other tuner pedal on the market. Strobe tuners are the most accurate and Peterson is a leader in the industry. This is easy to see (and has cool colors), has presets for sweetened tunings for guitar and bass, and honestly has more clout among your cheap musician friends than all the competition. Stop playing out of tune and get this.

Best tuner out there! Well worth the money!
Fantastic tuner! I love using this because it instantly shows the tuning of my bass as I'm playing. Use a 9vdc power supply - don't use a battery unless you have to. Programmable, and 100s of preset tuning sweeteners. A little bit difficult to learn, but it works right out of the box with just the default settings if you don't want to bother with downloading or updating the firmware. Looks great on my pedal board, and the large readout is easily readable in almost any lighting situation. Color looks great to, and it is a standard pedal size.

Great Tuner With a Few Shortcomings
I've been using this pedal in my pedalboard for about 3 years, and overall I love it. When I bought it, the other tuner that I was considering was the BOSS TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, which I was already familiar with. For dead-on accuracy, the Peterson StroboStomp HD is the best, I don't think any other tuner comes close in a pedal format. The many customized "sweetenings" are really cool, though one does not need to use them in order use the pedal effectively, other than using the basic guitar or bass sweeteners. Works great on my Stratocaster as well as on my fretless jazz bass. However, there are a few issues with the StroboStomp HD that I think could be improved on: 1. It needs to be more friendly for pedalboards. I had to peel off the rubber base on the bottom of the pedal in order to properly secure it on my pedalboard. Boss pedals are so much easier work with on pedalboards. 2. As some reviewers have noted, some of the buttons are oddly placed right where one would want to grab the pedal. This can be frustrating, and again, I have to give a nod to BOSS in terms of having a better form factor overall in terms of placement of controls/functions. Also, be aware that the screen is large, which is a blessing and a curse in that while it's easy to read, it can be prone to scratches or even cracks if not handled with care. Peterson sells a screen protector for it and I highly recommend purchasing it with the pedal. These shortcomings do not effect the performance of the StroboStomp HD. It is a superb tuner pedal. Hopefully Peterson will address these issues in future revisions of this great pedal.

High quality, accurate and worth every penny
I've only ever owned a Korg GT-3 and clip-on Snarks to compare to this, but oh man... this is the best tuner I've ever seen/used. Worth every penny.

Worth every penny!
A most impressive tuner! Easy to read and the amount of adjustment is easily displayed. Best tuner I have ever owned! Bought it for pedal steel and it has been invaluable!

Very Nice, BUT
OK, who does not like a Peterson Strobe Tuner for tuning up. That being said, it's great at doing it's job. Two big things that could be better: 1) The battery space is very tight, and makes the latch not work very well. I would of been better for a new modern swing out style, you know the ones that just opens and the battery is installed and popes back into place. What I see is, if I don't take a lot of care in doing the battery change battery clip will break. It's not a very good design at all, more like a after thought, just to get the new product out the door. Very poor in my book and I might have to just set it up in a powered setup. 2) The strobe is strobing all the time, kind of a distraction. It would be better to have a button that was more like a on/off for the tuner , and a soft mute also for the audio output to your amp. The tuner works great, but just a couple things would make it so much better of a product for the music player or professional player. The case is well built, nice buttons for adjusting setting, and has a place for power on the back, guitar in and out on the two sides. I couple sticky pads for placing either on the floor or velcroing to a pedal board. Great tuner but Peterson could of worked out a couple things better, maybe they will do a update in the future.
