Peewee grew up with my Dad on Elizabeth at in Durham NC. They smoked and ran numbers together as teenagers. We moved to CT and frank was living in New York, my cousin is in the Book, Linda Fletcher, she beat up Peewee because he beat up her brother. Linda said that she dragged Peewee down the street. But, last night she shared two stories about Frank. Back in the early 60's she flew to Durham from CT and seen Frank at the airport, she was walking up to him until he said "Fletcher, stoo walking dont come any closer." This was because of his bodyguards. The next evening she ran into frank at a dance, she looked at his bodyguard and said "thats a nice diamond ring" frank asked "do you like it?" She said yes and frank told the man to take it off and give it to her. But, she refused to.take it...

Very well written, and I enjoyed it immensely!

This is the first book by Ron that I have read. I am familiar with him because of his great internet radio show Crime Beat Radio. I always listen to the shows I download while driving. I decided to give this book a try and could not put it down. It was a real page turner. The very interesting story of Frank Matthews the drug dealer who just disappeared.The book is well written and holds your attention. I love crime books, biographies and non-fiction. I am always reading and now I feel like I have a new batch of books to read in Ron's material. I really recommend this book to anyone interested in a true story that leaves you wondering what really happened. Something that really hasn't been documented in the past.

I was browsing through amazon when I came across this book. It did not disappoint. I loved how the author took 6 years to research the book to provide the readers with the most accurate information as possible. Like most people, I had never heard of Frank Matthews. I think its possible he is now dead. I believed he could have lived for a few years but not now. How could anyone disappear with millions of dollars and not leave a single trace of themselves in over 40 years? Then again, he could also be alive and some how managed to pull off the impossible. With minor typos, this book is a great read for anyone who loves a good mystery.

great book well written, in depth,and it causes the reader to wonder. i would recommend this writing to everyone interested in the effect that gangsters both black and white had on this society.i have read several books by this writer and i am glad he did his research...thank you

Semi interesting book about a dope dealer who had an exit plan. Was taught as a child bewfore you see your way into a situation-see your way out. Money, greed and power have ways of aiding those who want to disappear.

Very informative book about someone who sparks my interests. Still researching

This book brings probably the richest and most powerful American drug Lord and criminal to life after the infamous Al Capone ,who made in today's money billions from bootlegging alcohol as opposed to Frank Matthews Heroin predominantly.The disappearance of Matthews with the bounty over his head is one of the greatest real escape acts in US history and this biography is written so effectively and excitingly that the pages almost turn by themselves.

This was a gift for the other half who is not much of a book reader, but he really enjoyed this book.
