Living Vegetarian For Dummies

Good introduction
The book is well-organized, although a little dated. A second edition - and clickable links for the Kindle edition - would be welcome.

Good nutritional information.
I like the thorough and plain English information. Easy to follow instructions. I have been a vegetarian for about 17 years and as I have gotten older I have noticed a greater need for protein in my diet. This book has some good info to help get more protein with veggies and fruits.

Great intro for beginners
I bought this book because I wanted some more information on being a vegetarian. My goal is to be flexitarian by the end of the year , and egg and dairy free by the end of 2021. I found this book to be a great start if you’re new to vegetarianism. I plan on doing some research on local coops because of the book.

Good resource
I bought this book when I wasn't sure I wanted to go vegetarian or vegan. The recipes are ok - a lot of bean based stuff with curry and/or chickpeas (which I don't care for). I dog-eared a couple of recipes to try, but the real usefulness of this book is the information on nutrition of a plant-based diet. It gives guidelines for what you should be making sure to have in your diet to supplement the iron, fiber, and protein that you would miss from meat. It was very, very helpful. I am now a vegan and using more stringent regulations, so I will sell the book back, but it was a great beginner's resource. Definitely recommend.

Very interesting book. Thought about going vegan after seeing all the abuse of the animals, especially Tyson. After reading it...truthfully I can't be a vegan....doesn't fit my life style....What I have decided to do is purchase all my meat from organic sources and I check out their facilities before purchasing to make sure the animals are humanly killed. I also only buy my fish from a reputable fish monger where I can get healthy fish without antibiotics, etc. My veggies are always organic as well as my dairy and butter.

Good starter book
I was a vegatarian for three years, and I bought this book early on hoping it gives me helpful advise on being a vegetarian. I don't think it gives you all the answers, but it comes very close. It presents vegetarianism in easy-to-read chapters, and it gives you tips on saving money and cooking fast vegetarian dishes. It also has a bunch of recipes at the back of the book to help you get started!

good starter but not very comprehensive
I did not find this book useful as it tries to solve veggie needs with eating soy in any kind of format. It does not have the kind of more holistic and thorough approach that other dietician's books for veggies have. the section on protein could be expanded more (specially the table) and recommended doses of veg etc for other nutrients is missing all together.god as basic introduction, but I would recommend soon moving on to a more comprehensive information source if you don't what to be stuck with tofu and soy as main form of non animal protein source.

More of a nutritional guide
Living Vegetarian for dummies was a factual, cold read. It contains lots of facts about what the author feels constitutes a well rounded diet whilst touching lightly on other issues (being vegetarian with children, whilst pregnant etc). This book did not contain the level of enthusiasm or passion for vegetarianism that is present in many other books on the subject, but that might be exactly what you are looking for.Whilst the majority of the information is accurate the book does have a 'dated' feel to it and I found myself on more than one occasion pondering over the fact that opinion on certain issues has moved on. To me, this book would be helpful for an omnivore who was interested in learning 'facts' about vegetarianism without the conversion attempts. This book does also cover the basics in a very simplistic way, so if you are just starting out on a meat-free diet it may be worth considering. All in all the book has its merits but (in my opinion) like all other books in this series should be read with the understanding that it is a superficial and factual - from the author's way of thinking - view.

Very good
A very good book for anyone who want to start a healthy vegetarian life-diet. Lots of good tips, yummy recipes, as well as answers to most of your interrogations about vegetarianism (How do you get enough protein? How do you handle restaurants? Dinner with friends? Children? Telling your parents ;)?...).I highly recommend it!
