Sharp deal
This is an Opinel, so you know that it is a good, inexpensive knife. It's slightly smaller than the more common No. 7 or No.8 knives. But the smaller size fits better in a pocket of slacks or a suit than either of those two models. The blade size is probably more useful in an office situation than those larger knives. The locking collar does exactly what it's designed to do - lock the knife open or closed. It came sharp out of the box, but a couple of passes on a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker extra-fine rod made it hair-shaving sharp. The steel is a good, easy to sharpen stainless. it's not one of those "only sharpen once a decade" super steels. But then it doesn't cost $500, like those knives. The turquoise color handle gives it a dressier look than the standard plain beech wood handle. The smaller size and colored handle make it less "scary" than the all-black "tactical" knives so popular today. That can be an important factor in today's urban/office environment. I have a lot of pocket knives, most more expensive than this one. But it fits into my EDC rotation very nicely. If you're looking for a "survival" or "commando" knife that will enable you to hack your way out of the amazonian jungle or an enemy encampment, then this isn't the knife for you. If you want a knife with a great "fidget factor" that can be open or closed with a one-handed flip, then this isn't the knife for you. If you want a knife that will impress your friends with it's badassss look, then this isn't the knife for you. But if you want a good using knife that doesn't require you to take out a second mortgage to purchase it, then this knife may be what you're looking for.

Great little knife.
These knives are wonderful to have around. This #6 is the perfect size for a small pocket or tool/tackle box. The little lanyard makes it ideal for carry in a bag. The color is great. Just an all around nice tool to have on hand. Also it is extremely sharp right out of the box.

great knife for a great price
These knives have basically gone unchanged since 1890. Great little knife.

quality knife
This design has served well for over a century and when used for it's intended purpose (cutting not prying or as a screw driver) will last along time. It is safe with a lock that locks the blade either open or closed with a simple twist. The knife is light weight and comfortable to carry. Nothing fancy, just a damned good knife.

Beautiful blade grind and price
I wish all knives would have a blade like opinel makes:1. Thin and very slicy, super slicy actually.2. Convex grind, so food stuff does not stick to it3. Good stainless choice4. Tough blade, can take some beating5. Decent edge retention6. Easy to sharpen7. Very light, including the handleSo why I took one star off. Well, I can not find a good use case for it. For home use, the handle is not the most comfortable, so it does not inspire it's use at home. For EDC, the handle is a bit bulky, once again. For key ring cary, for no5 knife, possibly no6 also, there is no provision for key ring attachment, and again, the handle is a bit bulky. It is too bad. It is such a beautiful knife. I feel it would find it self used in a lot more situations if it could solve those issues, but keep the weight advantage. But that is not easy to do. I will grind the handle down my self, to make it more acceptable for key ring carry, and make my own attachment for the key ring. There is just no other knife with the low weight, length of blade, and cutting performance of the opinel. Victorinox, when they provide a multi tool, and you need all those tools, can be more useful. But if you only need the blade, opinel has a longer, much better blade, and is lighter. Just need to solve attachment and bulkyness issue. Example: opinel no5 has 2.4" blade and weighs 0.5oz. Victorinox Excelsior one blade has 2.3" blade, 0.8oz, it is longer then opinel no5 when clised, but is also thinner and has key ring attachment built in. Opinel no6, is as long as Victorinox Excelsior when closed, but has a 3.1" blade, and is only 1oz. So, yeah, opinel can be hard to beat in some ways, but it is not complete in other ways, as to make use of it's advantages.

Handy and smooth.
I like the olive/ovacado green handle. And the Brown Leathery lil strap. Came sharp with a bit o edge roll. So easy to sharpen! Handy neck knife. It does have some resistance to open. I am glad. The lock is a lilbit stiff, but will loosten up in a month or so? Blade is not too thin. Wow it cuts cardboard as well as a box cutter, but handles so nice! I tried to use it to open an appliance crate with laminated sides. Not able to take the strain of collapsing sides. Bound up and over flexed blade. 00ps! My bad !!!!!!! Great for cutting papers, envelopes and food! Strait blade morakniv for construction demolition! LolI got another one for kitchen seal cutting. Trims every package so smooth!
