Super light and (just) fits in carry-on bag.
Light and simple to use. However, my husband used his shop tools to round the corners so they wouldn't poke the bag that I carry it in. I bought the Sirui T-1004X tripod, and they work well together and fit in my carry-on bag. (I got through airport security ok, but was a little worried; no guarantee this would always work). It worked great for plein air painting, where I put my paper attached to light weight gatorboard on the easel and everything stayed snug and solid. However, the holders were not wide enough for my thicker drawing board, so I won't get rid of my studio easel.

At long last, the perfect easel
At long last, the perfect easel: naturally, the simplest design possible. Used with a ball-head tripod, it is the ultimate tool for watercolor painting. Easy to put up and pack up.

Lightweight and versatile artist easel
Purchased this for a European trip next summer. Unlike most artist easels, this one uses your existing tripod. Versatile, will accommodate larger panels and canvas, and collapses to fit in your luggage or on a backpack. Seems well made, but overpriced in my opinion. Reading other reviews, purchasers made modifications to the tripod mount, in manufacture Judsons used their existing pochade box mount (square metal plate with pointed corners, may tear pack cloth or luggage interior). Considering other makers of this same idea, the Guerrilla Painter 3001 Flex Easel appears made of sturdier material, and costs less too.

Good concept, needs work
I'm a plein air painter. I wanted to lighten my load so I could back pack in to more interesting locations to paint. I've seen several versions of this concept in ABS plastic and in wood all expensive, like $70-80 dollars! I found this one on an online art store web site and then on Amazon where it is $10 cheaper. So I bought it. It's light weight and can be shoved in a backpack, although it sticks out, so it works but it has issues. I paint on panels and the trough is much too deep for easily painting top and bottom. (The wood one solved this problem.) The quick release plate on my tripod fits it (I'm using my old easyL tripod which is metal and sturdy.) But i still find myself using a bungie cord to batten down the panel as it tends to loosen and then windmill very slightly. Not a biggie. It solves my immediate problem but i wish there was a better solution.

Great product. Simple and sturdy. No problem fitting it onto my existing tripod. Thanks!

I wish I bought this earlier.
yes it’s expensive. and it shouldn’t be it’s just a piece of aluminum and some screws. That being said I have a funny thing it won’t hold that I want to carry when I’m out and about.A windstorm might flip over my tripod but my picture is still on. Great product
