African-American Art (Oxford History of Art)

A great addition to my art books collection. I especially enjoy reading about the history of these iconic African American artists. Just sad that they are not part of the American art history as a whole. Almost every book on historical artists I've read for personal readings and school only write about white males and very little of white female artist in art history and none of blacks. I truly hope that this will change as times are changing, it is more than about time to stop the overlooking of the artistic contribution of African Americans in America.

Easy read. shipping did not comein two days but within a week so not too bad. Used for school purposes.

I very much appreciate this seller for a couple of reasons. One, the book was in exactly, or even better, condition than I expected. Second, they truly seemed concerned to do their best by the consumer. I buy a lot of books and I'm very impressed with Abe. I have no doubt had I not been satisfied, they would have made this right.

Needed this for class. Book is full of art history that few black people know about! I give it 4-5 stars. The information is useful for class. I am however not an art major. But learning black art history was moving.

This excellent history of African American Art was written in 1998. It outlines four major eras of African American art and places all of the art into the relevant social and historical context. The author offers great insights into many different artists, in enough depth to be worth reading. At only $20, this is a much better book that the $60 African American Art by Lisa Farrington. I only wish Patton would do an update bringing her work current to 2018
