Solid quick training for Avid users
I had the 2004 edition of this book which came with a CD.This edition incorporates FCP 7 (now retired - boo) and a new chapter that catches up with digital file formats titled "Capturing and Transferring". Downfall is with no CD containing media and a PAL sequence to mess around with, it becomes less of a learn and test it out version. Luckily I have both copies so I can use the CD with the new version to have something to work with.Overall this book is a must for AVID editors making the switch. It cuts out all of the guess work when it comes to navigating FCP with an AVID mindset.

Okay
I used this off and on as a reference, but found it to be lacking when it came to details. If you're an Avid editor transitioning to FCP, then you're going to want specifics. This book gave just enough info to point you in the right direction, but in the end I found it lacking when I wanted to accomplish more detailed or specific tasks. Overall, the book was okay. Not good, not bad, just okay.

This book was very helpful to make an insight about Apple Final Cut Pro 7. As a professional Post-Producer i was needing a comparison between my usual tool, avid symphony and FCP, in order to be able to do almost the same things i always do with avid.

Great for Avid Editors making the switch to FCP
This is a fantastic book for any editors who've been long time Avid users and find themselves needing or wanting to switch over to Final Cut Pro. Very easy to read, great index for finding things quickly and the screenshots are super helpful.
