A Very Good Pasty Brush
I like that it holds a lot of melted butter. I use it often when I make cinnamon rolls for painting the rolled out dough with melted butter. It has lost maybe three hairs, and I do not consider that a problem. I have washed it in the dishwasher, and, so far, so good, but I was wondering if down the road the finish on the wood handle may degrade. The dishwasher does such a good job of getting it clean.

Works the way it should.
The right size. Works well for pastry.

No loose bristles! Yay!
I have been using a silicone brush for years because I never like the natural brushes because the bristles come off, but so far, this has not been the case. These natural bristle brushes are better especially for brushing egg wash, the silicone could never brush on a smooth coat so I am very happy with my purchase.

OK - could use less "shedding" but they all do that.
It loses a hair here or there, but they all do except the silicone ones. Good overall.I prefer these for greasing pans or candy molds, and the silicone brushes for basting and brushing on sauces.

Bristles keep falling out.
I've thrown this brush away after trying it several times over the year since I ordered. Each time I use it for basting, bristles fall out of the brush and end up on my baked goods. I really wanted a brush that would do better than silicone ones for melted butter, but this is NOT a well made brush!

Poor Packaging
I read the reviews, and it’s like every brand pastry brush had issues, but this one seemed less. I was not happy the brush was outside it’s packaging. Nothing wrong with the Amazon envelope, but the brush packaging was cut open at the bottom as you can see, and the brush was not in it. And some of the bristles were sticking out, and I’m sure from being loose in the envelope. I’m going to be keeping my eye on this brush for any loose bristles, as I don’t want those getting in my pastries as my last brush. The silicone ones don’t hold butter like the boar bristles one, but these cheaply made “Made in China” ones are sub par, and I hate to keep buying these more than I should be. I wish some US company would make these, as I’m sure they would last longer.
