I bought this product to make a layer poppyseed sponge cake, and it worked beautifully. It is blue poppyseed which tends to be less bitter than the black counterpart, and the preferred variety for baking. It was fresh and smelled nicely. However, you need to know how to use it. Cook poppyseed for 20 min, let it cool down and drain the excess water using cheesecloth. If you're making a strudel, cook it in milk. Next, grind it twice in a meat grinder using the blade with the smallest holes. You will lose some seeds in the process, so start with a little bit more than what the recipe calls for. Now your poppyseed is ready for use. It will not be bitter.

Good quality. Fresh and tastes great. A good amount for a great price.

The picture shows the product coming in a silver bag, but I got ones in black bags. Not sure if that matters or not, but it bugged me. Sadly, these did not work out for my intended use. It seems like a great product for baking I'm sure, but that's about it. If you are looking for this for anything "other than baking", I would not recommend it. I may give these a try for planting and see if they can be since they are not irradiated (or at least it claims they are not)

I’ve had poppy seeds before and I know what they look like. These seeds aren’t black, mostly gray and smell like rancid although the expiration date is June 2028. Looking for a better brand!

These are perfect for my poppy seeds Danish ! It always comes out so good with this brand. It's actually my favorite thing to bake with these!! Absolutely would recommend!
