About the Author Annie Cooks Family Favorites Adapted for Lactose-Intolerant is Ann Frommer’s third book. Taking a break from writing war stories, Ann Frommer took time off to write this cookbook that has guided their day to day dietary program. “I always feel at home in my kitchen. I’m usually hovered over a steamy pot of soup, mixing up dessert or kneading dough for bread. Modifying recipes is second nature for me, having grown up with adults on restricted diets. After my husband became lactose-intolerant, it became just another recipe modification." An RN, with a successful healthcare management career, wrote and published multiple medical articles. Ann studied liberal arts at Columbia University and art at New York University in NYC. She completed her bachelor's and master’s degrees at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey.

Best Cookbook
Annie's Cookbook is a must for a wonderful basic cookbook to keep on your shelf. I love how she's organized each recipe with easy to read ingredients and directions, as well as being printed in a large font. Photos are a nice addition and the gluten free recipes are a plus. A keeper!

Love It!
Big print - lots of helpful kitchen hints - we are not lactose intolerant so make some substations but lots of good old time recipes My husband - who is a cook fanatic - enjoys it as much as I do. Thanks Annie.

An excellent resource and a source of ideas
It's hard to stay enthusiastic about cooking when your own dietary limitations - and those of other people - set tight limits. Lactose intolerance is particularly tricky to navigate because so many comfort foods, party foods, and just ordinary meals, are made with dairy products. Annie Cooks is a wonderful source of inspiration as well as information - not only about lactose intolerance, but about the exchange of ingredients you might never have thought of. And the variety and quality of recipes is quite good as well. To be honest, the only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I would have liked to see more emphasis on natural and primal ingredients, but that's just me.

172 pages of recipes of tasty things where you don't feel like you're denying yourself
FINALLY, a cookbook for the lactose-intolerant. 172 pages of recipes of tasty things where you don't feel like you're denying yourself. I've tried the Cream of Wheat using Ann's recipe and it is a lot tastier than the way I used to make it. What I like best about the book is that it is in LARGE print for us "older" folks! There's nothing more annoying than trying to follow a recipe and having to squint your eyes to see the cookbook and, while doing so, something is starting to burn in your pot. With the huge print, you can see it from the stove and it is so easy to see that it's like having the author next to you telling you what to do. Who knew that an author of fiction could write such a NEEDED book, at least for me. I've likely been lactose intolerant all my life; but, wasn't told that until about 20 years ago. BUY THIS BOOK.

"Annie Cooks" is a culinary work of art!
This cook book is well laid out, beautifully illustrated, and a wonderful addition to any kitchen. Though adapted for the lactose intolerant, the wide variety of recipes from soups, to breads, to casseroles, and desserts, clearly offers something for everyone. Her dried herb mix is the "only" seasoning you'll ever need to add zest to the flavor of meats, soups, vegetables, and salads, and once assembled saves so much time as your "go to" herb enhancer. This cookbook provides valuable background on lactose intolerance, a brief biography of the author and her lifetime interest in cooking, and a wide variety of delicious and easy to follow recipes for cooks at all levels. Bravo Annie!
