Safavieh Home Forest Traditional Grey Wash Drop Leaf Dining Table

I am so glad I stumbled upon this table! I have a small dining area in my apartment and was going to choose a glass table but happened to see this one by chance. It is gorgeous in person, very sturdy, great for small spaces but 4 people can definitely sit comfortably around it. Love the Ancient Greek influence and it will go great with the modern vintage vibe I’m going for. No issues with the wood quality and all hardware was accounted for. Took me maybe 45 min to put together (with a drill for some parts). I can’t wait to style my dining area now! I haven’t used it much yet so I can’t speak on durability but if I experience any issues, I will update my review. Get it, you won’t regret it!

I love the pedestal; the legs are not intrusive and the carving on it is nice. Although if you have the leaves down the end of the legs do stick out a few inches from the table. Not that big a deal to me. I usually only have one leaf down at a time. It really looks good waxed and polished. My dining table has to accommodate plants/fresh flowers and a few decorative odds and ends and sometimes a large garden book opened to a favorite page and then have enough room left over for a placemat and food. It does all this without things being stretched out to the rim of the table. At the time I bought it I bought 2 parsons chairs to use with it. They were too short and sitting at a dining table that was even with my upper chest was not going to work. Pillows and cushions helped but did not fix it. I passed them on. I found that my desk chair, of all things, worked out great. Adjustable seat brought me up to my food and the ergonomics of being used at a dining table were perfect. It was on strong wheels and swiveled. I can swivel at the table and get up using both legs instead of wrangling out like in a car. Seat was covered in a caramel leather cover and now does double duty between the dining table and desk. It is fantastic and matches table perfectly. There are many task chairs out there to choose from should I decide to get another one. I am very, very happy with this setup and have had no problems with the table. The only improvement to the table I could see would be a lip under the table to conceal the locking mechanism for the leaves.

I gave this five stars because it is the best possible style to match my old kitchen chairs I bought at auction 35 years ago. Warning, you have to screw in one side of the 6 hinges that attach the leaves to the table. The starter holes don't match up. The legs stick out. The table top with leaves down is 24" but the legs are 26" across. Also, it is a very tall table. I will have to have diminutive friends sit on books, lol. The table has a distressed barn finish which will hide wear and tear. When not in use it will be that transition spot for garden gear, hiking gear and other items without a home. I think it is a good value. I plan to use it as a card table. It fits my needs perfectly.

I like it but gave it 4 stars for these reasons : 1) No firm packing at all inside box. All legs completely loose in big box, UPS threw box around Landing hard on street, it’s a true wonder legs weren’t broken or chipped !!! Also, 2) folding leaves don’t match edge of center piece exactly so there is a gap on either one side or the other when you try to match them up. This is on both pieces. 3) Missing one lock washer, but I had one from another order I used. 4) Instructions are put together LAZILY. All you get is a diagram, that’s it.

I don’t like that they don’t tell you before you buy it and have it, that the surface won’t tolerate drinks, a good cleaning, etc., until you have received the weighty package and are in the process of assembling it. They require you to verify that you have received all parts, but you can’t know until you have unpackaged everything and will never ever be able to repackage it again. The table contours are absolutely charming and darling, but I do intend to thoroughly wipe my table, clean after meals, and I don’t want chemicals on my hands from touching it while eating(!) — so I’m going to sand and paint the surface in oil-base paint -- outdoors where those chemicals won’t be released into the air in my house, and then try to find and pay for a round piece of glass so I can eat freely and clean the surface after meals. By the way, you could paint it any darling color. It’s truly charming!

This took about an hour to put together. I was surprised all the parts were in good condition, all the drilled holes matched! I was very appreciative I could put this together by myself! This is a great addition to my dinning nook.

First about the color, the base is antiqued well and looks nice, the top is almost just natural [I chose the natural color with antiquing] , more importantly it is rough finish, snags the fabric of your clothes if you place your arm on the top. I will have to take a sander to it and then refinish, I feel for the cost I should not expect to have to do this. Both drop leaves are longer than the table side and hang over a fraction. Just very poor workmenship on the table top. Also should note that the table is 31" tall which is taller than more dining tables, I am 5'3" so is an issue for me. The table is very sturdy and once we work on it should last a long time, just should not have to avoid snags and splinters. I never read this in any of the reviews.

Excellent table. Good quality. Perfect size. Good value. Would highly recommend it if you need this size table. We purchased it for our enclosed porch as a space saver and it works perfectly. I’ve never been disappointed with this brand.
