Love it! Here's how to put it together.
Got the set this past weekend and I can see why some have described the assembly instructions as lacking. We really do like the set, having placed it in our solarium so we can sip and snack while watching birds at the feeders on our deck. Here is what I'd recommend for putting this set together. Taken step by step, its easier than it looks. ASSEMBLY STEPS: 1) TABLE: Start with the table. It uses 3 well-marked pieces of hardware (A, D & E) for attaching the 4 legs. A short dowel at the top of each leg fits into a whole on the underside of each table corner. This part is very easy. Just follow the diagram where it shows how to arrange the washers and screws. The table can then be used to assemble the stools, but put a towel on it to protect the finish. 2) STOOL ONE: Lay one of the two stool legs (#4) down flat. Add a squarish wooden cross piece (#5) where a short dowel from it will fit into a matching hole near the top of the leg. 3) HERE'S THE TRICKY PART: Push the metal piece (F) into the only small hole on the side of wooden piece #4. Be careful to line up the hole with the hole coming in from the edge of the wooden piece. You'll see what I mean. Also keep the edge of the metal piece that has a Phillips head facing out so you can use it to twist it if needed. If the long screw (B) doesn't go into that hole, you can use a Phillips screwdriver to twist the metal piece into alignment. 4) After securing the wooden piece at one end, use the screws (C) to secure two of the long metal cross pieces (#6) to the same table leg. The metal pieces push into the only holes big enough to accommodate them. 5) Next attach the other leg (#4) to those wood and metal cross pieces to complete the bottom of the stool. 6) STOOL TWO. Steps 2-5 above. 7) ADDING THE CUSHIONS: Place the stool bottoms on their feet and wedge the nice cushions into the tops between the corners of the stool legs. They almost drop in but gets a bit tight. Push the corners in and down until they make contact with the wooden cross pieces you installed in step 2. 8) Turn the stools upside down and rest on the cushions. Drop the pointed wood screws (G) into the four holes (2 in each wooden cross piece). With some force at first, push and twist the screws in with a Phillips head. After you get some bite you don't have to push so hard. It will pull itself in and securely tighten itself to the bottom of the stool. 9) The little wooden buttons (H) you're wondering about get tapped into the holes along the legs where the screws (C) were used. Some will fall out when moving the stool. When one falls out I put a tiny drop of Elmer's glue on it to keep that from happening. I only use a drop in case I need to pop it out and tighten the screw underneath one day. This sounds complicated, but if you take it one step at a time it's kind of fun. I was completely lost at first, but after figuring it out, I actually enjoyed the process. Just keep a close watch on each screw and washer. Count them BEFORE opening the clear plastic to make sure you started with the number needed. Only open each as you need them. They are easy to misplace. One note about the table top. Another reviewer mentioned a small dent or nick in an edge of the table top. Ours has a small blemish, too. It doesn't stand out though. In spite of that, I'm glad to have this set, as it looks nice, is sturdy and is a good value for the price. The soft leather of the cushions looks and feels of good quality, and is comfortable. I would whole-heartily recommend this set.

This table is fabulous
I am almost 80 years old and live in Senior living. So the apartments are not gigantic by any means. My first apartment had a window in the kitchen so the drop leaf table that I had was great. This apartment is a little different set up and I hated my table in this little corner. Now I know that companies are coming out with these little bar type sets that would work great in my place. When I saw this one I knew it was for me. It came quickly and very well packaged. So much so that it took me a good hour and a half to unwrap it and assemble it. Someone youger could do it in a half an hour to 45 minutes. Assembly instructions were easy and everything went together nicely. Good construction and good looking. My only helpful hint would be to not tighten the bolts on the chairs all the way so you can push the cushioned seat in. Tight fit but by leaving a little wiggle room the seat fits in nicely, then you can tighten all the way. The seat then is screwed on from underneath. Now that I have been using this for a while, the only thing I would do differently, and still can, would be to get a nice chair type stool for more comfortable seating.

Great value. Very versatile (kitchen table, bar, gardening, prep table, entry ways, etc) and looks more expensive than priced
Ordered two sets of these, and assembled them yesterday. One is for a 400 sq ft studio apartment, which required a small footprint. The other is for a garden potting station. The stools nest underneath the table nicely which makes them perfect for a small space. The height is perfect for using as a potting station, and is a way more affordable option than we found elsewhere. The assembly is relatively quick, and only requires a phillips head screwdriver, and allen wrench (several provided in the packaging). The hardware comes in 3 clear plastic bags (1 for the table, 1 for the chairs, and 1 for the wood cap screw covers on the chairs), and is taped to the box in a red plastic bag, so it could get thrown away accidentally if you aren't careful (maybe why some reviewers complained of missing hardware pieces?). I used wood glue to reinforce the table legs & stool legs, which may or may not be necessary depending on how heavy of use you are planning/how often you plan to move them. They look very nice, and are sturdy when assembled. For the price, they are an exceptional deal (assuming they hold up), but there are some minor flaws (definitely not worth returning, but did take away 1 star). CONS: 1. The finish on each of the table tops had MINOR flaws (1/4" or smaller split in the finish on the table top). It looked like there was bubble in the laminate surface that was cut with a razor knife, leaving a small gouge in the table top. 2. One of the table tops did not get entirely covered with stain, so there was a small strip of unpainted wood showing. Again, not a big defect, but because of the dark color it does catch your eye quite a bit. Easy to fix with stain & a paintbrush, but an extra assembly step & more stuff to have to buy if you don't have the right color lying around. 3. As always, the hardware included is not great. We did have the correct quantity of everything (no extras). The bolts and washers included are fine, but you might want to swap the screws that attach the seat cushion to the stool frame. I was using an electric drill on the first stool and had a screw break in half inside the stool. 4. The cushions are very firm, but might soften as they get more use. Hopefully the firmness will translate into them lasting longer. PROS: 1. Looks way more expensive than $100. The stools are very nice looking & have attractive detail stitching on the seat cushions. Honestly, the stools look like they would be $100 for the pair. 2. Very sturdy for flat-packed furniture. The stools had a sticker stating that they hold a max weight of 275 lbs. We haven't tested the weight limit, but did have someone that weighed 150 lbs wiggle around and try to get them to creak/shift/break apart. They were VERY stable even before the glue set up. 3. Can be used as a nesting table with the stools underneath, or split apart. One of our sets is split apart, with the stools being used at a breakfast island in the kitchen, and the table in our sun room. The table and chairs are each nice enough to stand alone. The bar would make a great entry-way table or even an indoor or outdoor bar. 4. Easy to assemble. After the first stool, I realized it was much easier to assemble them on their sides & the other 3 stools were a breeze. For the table, you just have to attach the legs using bolts and washers. We plan to order at least 2 more sets (one for a gift for a family member with a small apartment, and another for a rental apartment). Hopefully they hold up to everyday use and being moved around occasionally.

Great bargain for small apartment or extra table!
For the price your not going to beat this! The table is fairly sturdy, the legs are solid wood, not sure what kind (it's made in Vietnam if that's any indication as to what type of wood this may be). The tabletop base, and top is MDF, the glossy false marble laminate seems to made of a paperlike material so if you get it wet I recommend you clean it up ASAP. The glossy finish however seems like it would help with this. The stools are solid wood, same as the table legs, very sturdy, I put my feet on the bar stools and didn't feel like they would break. The seat is comfortable, and the vinyl is fairly softer than most cheap vinyl furniture surfaces. The seat design is a bit odd, where the seating surface attaches to the stools on assembly the squared corners dig into the corners of the seat cushion and I'm anticipating they will end up tearing sooner than later. If you need a decent cheap table and have space requirements this is a great option. The stools fit under the table when not in use. Enough room for 2 people. Makes a great kitchen workbench if you need extra space in the kitchen, it's tall enough to work with as well. Will update in a few months on durability of the product, for now, 5 stars based on price and quality at the price.

Great little set!!
Update: Wanted to update this review after some time passed (3 years). We moved into a larger home and that allows us to have a dining room and 'proper' table; however, we also had room for a small table/chair situation in our kitchen and decided to keep this table (the stools are long gone). A quick tightening of the legs and she's still good as new and is a great addition to our new kitchen. It serves as a nook for sitting and also as additional counter/work space in our kitchen. Definitely a good buy!! I bought this set after much research as we live in a small home and don't have any real place for a table and chairs, but we desperately needed somewhere to sit and eat, do homework, etc. Once I mapped out the space (we ditched the outgrown kids table to make room for this) I started searching for the right set. I had another set picked out but the price kept going up and I really didn't want to pay over $200. I kept coming back to this one. I purchased it at just under $100. My family loves it and it looks great and is very sturdy. I was terrified to assemble the stools after some of the reviews I had read but I had no issues at all. 57 year old female here with some experience assembling furniture. Just take your time and make sure everything is good and tight but do not over-tighten. I only used the allen key and a screwdriver (which you only need for the stool seat). I did not even use a drill. I plan to purchase some swivel stools with seatbacks for this table because we have small children that need the support, but for now we are using the stools with no issues. Lots of people stated the little screw covers popped off a lot so I did not even bother with them as we have a toddler and could be a choking hazard if left on the floor.

Watch out for damage
This is a very nice table with good construction quality and with a very attractive appearance. It's not super heavy duty but it will suffice in most cases for a household and for people of most sizes and weights. It is certainly a good bargain for the price. This table fit my apartment exactly at the right size and shape, and also I noticed that the ends of the table do not have crossbars, making it comfortable to sit at either the ends or on the sides. However... I received my table with small but barely noticeable damage to two places on the table top. It was easy to hide and so I decided to live with it as opposed to putting everything back in the box for a return (very annoying). If you are picky, you might be taking your chances with this. It might be worth taking the chance, because this is really a nice piece. This table top is made of a laminate material that can possibly be damaged easily if bumped into something. It can also chip on the corners. I corrected a small chip on one corner with a Sharpie marker, and now you can't see it. The other damage was a small dent that caused a minor crack on one edge, about the size of my fingernail. I decided to push it up against the wall and put some rubber cement on the crack, which is almost invisible. You can feel it when you run your hand along the edge. The good news is that Amazon has you covered, and will make sure you are satisfied with your product. They offered me a discount for keeping the item as is, or two different return/exchange options. Always purchase from Amazon when in doubt. I'm happy with the way this turned out and their customer service was stellar as usual. I'm sure I will enjoy this table.

It was worth it !
After reading all the negative comments I was a bit worried, but I still decided to give it a chance. At this point I believe it’s all about luck some people get a bad order and some people get a good order. I was lucky and I received a good batch, my table arrived very well packed of course it’s heavy so you want to make sure that you are not alone. I hate assembling stuff and my husband is definitely not a help because he always has a hard time reading instructions so it’s all about me. The table was very easy to assemble, the instruction is very easy to understand and there are only pictures. I’ve built the table by myself and it took me around 30 to 40 minutes. I had some issues with the chairs but I realized, that it was my mistake. The great thing is that you really don’t need no extra tools. You might need a screwdriver. But I made it work with no extra tools. I think that it’s awesome that you can find dining tables for this cheap, not everyone has the money to spend hundreds and hundreds on a dining table. It’s only me and my husband and we wanted something affordable, That looks beautiful and does the job. We absolutely love it and I am not disappointed.

Great table but does have a little bit of issues
We've had this table for 4 years now and it's not a terrible smaller table. We have a very small spot in our kitchen for a smaller table and this was perfect for it. It was easy to assemble but it's not that sturdy. It does the job we need it to and it's a beautiful table. We have had issues with chipping on both the table and stools and one of the stools bottom bar broke off pretty easy. I'm happy with the purchase but wouldn't suggest it as a table used a lot.
