Excellent belt for the money! Very comfortable and durable
I bought my first Thomas Bates belts back in 2018 and I still use them. They have held up very well and the latching mechanism is very easy to use and never uncouples. I just bought this version which has a slightly different latch, but it's also easy to use. I have a 32" waist and the belt can go up to 42". I used heavy duty scissors to cut off the excess and then used a lighter to burn the cut edge so it doesn't fray. Not sure if that is necessary, but it worked on the first two belts I bought 3.5 years ago. If you like reliability and simplistic operation this is the belt to buy. It's also very comfortable and not too wide for almost any belt loop. I have a diabetic pump and an iPhone 7 plus that I always clip to my belt/pants. No problem with those extra attachments, still a comfortable feel.

Good Quality, Made in USA, Worth the Price!
Good product- made in the USA, and good company. I had to cut a few inches off and heat the edge near a candle flame, as per the directions, in order to fit the belt just right. Now the belt is a couple inches past the belt loop when fastened on my waist- regulation fit. It is very light weight and comfortable, and thin enough to be comfortable. The buckle is a bit different than I am used to. It doesn’t ratchet to adjust like metal ones, but has a slot you feed the belt into and then snap down the face plate. The plastic buckle makes security check points a breeze, and the buckle does not cut into your belly when bending over because it is a friendly plastic material. The color is much lighter than I had expected. It is called “graphite” and I was hoping it would be a more charcoal grey graphite like actual pencil lead. The belt is for a pair of charcoal cargo BDU shorts. I guess the contrast looks nice, though. I would not recommend this to be worn as a duty belt- it is much too light. For duty belt use, I would recommend a gun belt. This is actually advertised as a hiker belt, thus the light, minimalist design.

Decent for what it's supposed to be
This is a lightweight belt..... Read the description people...... It's a lightweight belt for lightweight pants for hiking. It is not a heavy duty tactical belt or a belt made to hold tools.... Or a belt made to hold in a big gut on a fat guy...... You need a full inch and a half heavy duty leather belt or a wide heavy duty tactical type built for those things For its intended purpose it does fine...... It's decent quality. It is somewhat expensive for what it is though, as I expect the plastic buckle will wear or break eventually. But in its new condition it seems to work perfectly fine. It should be able to be worn through TSA without taking it off at the airport but.... Some TSA agents want you to take everything off just not to hold up the line if there's a problem..... If you have TSA PreCheck they probably won't

Best belt I've owned
I don't write reviews, but I bought this belt 9 1/2 years ago, and it is the best and most used belt I've owned. I've worn this probably 360 of 365 days of every year since then and it has held up perfectly. It never slips, and is always perfectly adjustable to the exact right tightness regardless of the clothes you wear, or the tightness you had it buckled to the last time you wore it. I'm getting a second one, just because I want to make sure I have a spare in case something ever happens to this one. it is lightweight but super strong, and never slips. I'm not getting any discount or perk from this review, I just love the belt. If you get it, you won't regret it and it'll be the best 20 bucks you've spent, it was for me!

My favorite belt (I have several by Thomas Bates)
Favorite belt. It’s rugged, comfortable, is good looking, has infinite adjustment, will fit any size waist no problem. And it’s easy to use. I need a belt that doesn’t stretch since all my pants are made with stretch material. It’s why a no stretch belt is needed. Stretch pants are easy to put on but they tend to fall when you’re walking. Great product!

It's an OK belt with some design issues. TSA still make me remove it before the scanners though.
Decent belt. Unlike some others, after a year of moderate use I have not had any sort of failure with the buckle. I have worn it enough that the web material is starting to look a bit worn. Before you buy, be aware of an important design issue: Unlike most web belts, you cannot adjust the length by making longer/shorter at the buckle end! To shorten it you have to very carefully cut the "active" end of the web strap, and use heat to seal it. Also unlike most web belts, this lacks any sort of hardened material crimped-on "tip" to protect the webbing as it feeds into the buckle. I guess my biggest disappointment though relates to wearing it through security at airports. I travel *A LOT*, and based on comments by others about this belt I thought I would be able to wear it through the scanners. Well, perhaps it would not set off the scanner, but we must remember the human factor. After a year of frequent travel I have yet to be able to wear it though a detector. TSA personnel bark and bark and bark "Take off your belt" before I even get a chance to try that aspect out. "But the buckle is plastic..." means nothing to them. And heck, you really don't want to get one of them mad at you for not following their orders! Bummer.

Perfect belt.
If this is the kind of belt you want, I think it is perfect. It is tough and seems like it will be extremely durable despite being a lighter thickness and weight that makes it easy to use and wear. It's nice looking, its width is narrow enough to fit easily in nearly any belt loop width, and the buckle is easy to use and holds tight (just lift the end on the left up to 90 degrees with it on--it may stick a little the first time you open it). Plus it's a very good price. Just a couple comments: (1) the color in the picture on Amazon isn't accurate--I bought navy and it was a true navy blue color (which I wanted), but the photo is a much lighter blue. (2) After cutting it to size (I just laid it beside a belt that fit correctly to get the right spot to cut it), when you apply the match (or lighter flame) to seal the end, don't overdo it--a quick sealing is all that's needed. Err on the light side. After my first one, I've ordered two more.

Short lifespan.
Nice belt but the buckle tends to break after a year. This last one only went 6 months, so I'm switching brands. It's also expensive for a nylon/plastic belt.
