What Universe Are You Creating?: Zen and the Art of Recording and Listening: A 52-Card Deck & Guidebook

Very Powerful Practice - I am trying to remember how I stumbled on this book. Well, I have a lot of Cheri's books such as 'There is nothing wrong with you' and 'What you practice is what you have' etc. I get a lot from Cheri's books. But while reading the books with exercises that included recording, I never did the recording practices. Also, I took one of the email correspondence courses years ago but never really got it. I didn't feel like I could understand even the instructions or it was just too hard or something. This book however I got it (I think I read it was coming out or something in a different book) is really great. The book comes in a box with a deck of cards. The cards have a word on each one. The game aspect of it I suppose is that you shuffle the deck and pick the word. Words I got so far are Grace, Compassion, Awe, Letting Go. Once you get a card, then you look it up in the book and there are about two pages of description, quotes from masters and a recording/listening practice. So, this in a sense is 'self inquiry for dummies' in that it sort of reminds me of the inquiries I did in the Diamond Approach but its actually for me way more powerful. I am a newbie but each time I have done it, I have used my phone and recorded about 5 and a half minutes and then listened (with headphones). The results have been immediate connection and dropping into presence. (feels like a relaxing warm love bath) It makes me feel really good. Then also, as a result of doing this practice, its shifting the way I do my habitual thinking as I recognize what universe I am creating and maybe stop creating those horrible parallel ones. I am new at this but am finding I really like this and want to keep on doing it as it really works. It truly is a new secret weapon. I have been in Siddha Yoga for nearly 30 years and the Guru is emphasized (Guru God and Self are one). Here in Cheri's practice its called 'Mentor' but its way powerful for connecting with the mentor and coming into a conversation with the mentor rather than the ego mind. Now I really know how to get in touch with the Guru. Sort of like Buddhist Brother Lawrence with technology and steroids. Way easy and way powerful. It gives me a Shakti Immersion/Bath.

The recorder does not come with it. I wasn't aware of that until I received it which is fine because I'm using my phone anyway. I wasn't sure how helpful would be to record myself and listen to it but I've had ideas of that before and really glad I got this. it's a good guidebook to give you the right questions to think about to record and then listen to your answers very insightful.

Cheri manages to present in simple understandable and often charming language what others fail to describe in long dissertations. The record and listen process she has invented is a real innovation and my first trys are truly illuminating.
