Real Stihl, I guess. A good chain.
This review pertains to "STIHL 26RM3-74 Oilomatic Rapid Micro Comfort 18-Inch Saw Chain, .325-Inch Pitch, .063-Inch Gauge, 74 Drive Lengths" (I belive that should state ...74 drive links, but what do I know)I have seen fairly unbiased youtube test videos that have convinced me that Stihl chains are top notch. They can be pricey, but you are getting a good, reliable chain. So what you have to be concerned about when getting one online is getting the exact right part, and avoiding knock-offs or refurbished chains. As far as getting the right part, get the chain part number chart from Stihl, and make sure you know what part number you need for your saw. or... I kept the chain box that I got from the dealer when I bought the saw. It has the part number and all the specked measurements on it. Either way, gettin the correct part number is on you.The chain that arrived with this order came in a Stihl box, the box is marked with the correctpart number, it is the same size and configuration as my original chain, and after close examination appears to be a new, very sharp, actual Stihl chain. The box has some differences in the printing. For one, there is a pannel on the box that is all in Russian. Secondly, there are none of the specked measurments filled in on the front of the box. The pictorials are all there, but no numeric values are present. The third difference, I noticed is that the part number is attached as a sticker, not printed directly on the box like the original chain. Another minor difference is the absence of the "Badstrasse 115" line on the German address on the back of the box. Lastly, the green indicator for the "low kickback" chain design is missing on the box.Box differences asside, I loaded it up and went to wood cutting. I have a truck load of mostly oak that needs to be cut to fit into my wood fired boiler. 30 logs later, the chain is still cutting well, like a Stihl chain should. At about 60 to 75 logs is about where I expect to need to sharpen it. The performance of this chain thusfar is worthy of the Stihl name. This order was supplied by a seller named "russiangoods2013" I don't typically look at the actual seller's name, especially if there are no problems, but the Russian on the box had me curious. I can't say why German goods comming through Russia would be more economical than direct imports. As far as the box differences that I mentioned, I can only speculate that the process to direct print part numbers and specks on the box is skipped when exporting to Russia. The missing low kickback indicator may not be a thing in Russia, or perhaps this is "new old stock" where the boxes are printed prior to the green warning marker appearence. The bottom line: this is a good Stihl chain. It is less expensive than my local Stihl dealer. ...And it delivered straight to my door in 2 days. (win win win)

After taking the time to learn how to use this sharpener, it makes a weekend warrior look like a pro
Most of us weekend warriors don't know how to properly sharpen chainsaw blades, and didn't know that there are guides on the chain that need to be filed down, too. This tool does both and, once you learn how to use the tool, does it well. Rather than going by trial and error (i.e., winging it), I searched out a number of videos on the Internet. After watching them a couple of times, I put the tool to use and, thankfully, successfully sharpened the chain on my MS290. BLUF, it's time well spent to watch videos on how to use this well-made and well-designed too.
