Tuttle Concise Indonesian Dictionary: Indonesian-English English-Indonesian (Tuttle Concise Dictionaries)

I have been living in Indonesia for a year and I bought this dictionary before I arrived. This dictionary has been extremely useful, and not to mention easy to use. I use this dictionary everyday because I am a Peace Corps volunteer; teaching English.A couple of week ago, I emailed Tuttle asking if they would be willing to donate dictionaries to my school because the dictionaries my students were using at the time were out of date, falling apart, missing words or the translations were incorrect.In about two weeks I received an email from a bookstore in Jakarta Indonesia; Periplus. They had received an email from Tuttle explaining my situation at my school and they offered to help. In a matter of days, they had sent my school 15 new dictionaries from Tuttle! I was only expecting 7 maybe 8 new dictionaries at most. I was extremely excited and my students were grateful and eager to use them.I would like to thank Tuttle for the donation as well as Periplus. Tuttle is a fantastic company with a good heart towards giving back to those less fortunate!

as many others have said, this is a “pocket dictionary”, although i think it’s a little too big to fit in my pocket it fits in my bags just fine! it is split into two parts, Indonesian words with the english definition and english words with an Indonesian definition. The start of the book briefly goes over how sentences work in Indonesian before it continues with the indonesian-english part of the dictionary. i think it will be very helpful for me while i learn more words in indonesian!

There seems to be a few small concise combined phrase books and dictionaries floating around on bookshop shelves these days. The dictionaries are usually very limited in these books due to size constraints.This one however is a pure dictionary which is surprisingly comprehensive although very compact. I use this to learn the Indonesian language and it is useful to have both Indonesian to English and English to Indonesian translations. The print is quite small which could be hard to read depending on your eyesight but the words are written in blue followed by a definition in black which makes them stand out and be more easily found. Pronounciations are not included however, so if you're learning the language its probably best to do so with the help of additional aids used in conjunction with this book.However, I find this book indispensible for finding meanings of words that are not used in common vocabulary. A good book overall and I can recommend it for people studying the language.

This item is a perfect companion to assist in translations both ways. English to Indonesian , Indonesian to English. It is compact and easy to look up. As well it is a nice looking manual. This is an excellent product for the price.

Buy the hard copy - this is a good dictionary but not very useable in digital form

This a very helpful compact dictionary. Fits well in my purse or my computer case. A little bit big for a pocket if you wanted to carry it around when traveling. You will need some type of bag to put your dictionary in. I am just starting to study Indonesian, so I can talk to my cousins I found on Facebook. This dictionary has come in handy. Easy to read and has a little history about the language and other references like colors, time , numbers, letters and vowel sounds. It starts from Indonesian - English then English -Indonesian. Oh yes, the type face is not too small so it is easy on the eyes.

I just bought this dictionary for my kindle whitepaper..after I change the default dictionary into this Tuttle dictionary why everytime I select the word (I'm Indonesian) it is always showing 'no definition found'? what is wrong? is there any setting I forget? I bought this dictionary because of its say Indonesia-English and English-Indonesia or am I wrong?

This is a vast improvement over the old Tuttle Indonesian dictionary. An attempt was made to define specific versions of an Indonesian word rather than have the user wade through a long list of variants. The printed page is much more attractive and the binding much better (for the past 2 years, the old Tuttle has been in pieces fluttering around my room). This is a must buy for Indonesian word users due to the inexpensive price and careful and exciting revision. And please -- throw away your exhaustively worn previous Tuttle paperbacks before they totally rot!!

Just what I required, very good

This dictionary is amazing. it contains many of the 'informal' words commonly used in the Indonesian language, and it includes the root-verb of many verbs listed with the prefixes, which is nice. I would recommend this dictionary over many other for anyone intent on leanring this wonderful language.The company which sold the product also did great, shipped on time, arrived on time, prefect condition. No complaints.

An excellent dictionary - lacking very few words that non-technical learners would require in general Indonesian conversation and colloquial writing, and in a portable size. A major advantage is that it lists words in both the root form and with the 'ber-' and 'me-' prefixes, which is invaluable for learners because adding the prefixes sometimes involves dropping the first letter from the root word. this is pretty confusing until you learn the rules, so having the dictionary set out in this way is great.

インドネシア語初級者を悩ませる、語幹からの派生語（接頭辞、接尾辞による派生）が丁寧に網羅されているのが良いです。各語の意味は１つ〜３つのシンプルな説明のみで、例文もありません。語の網羅数と派生関係の説明がこの辞書のポイントのように思われます。Kindle版を購入しましたが、より細かいインデックス、辞書検索機能があるとさらに良いと思います。
