**updated review** Great card with only a few misgivings.
New review: I ended up having to get a 850 watt power supply. the old one just didn't cut it even though voltages were good at all times. I don't know how 5 and 12 can be above voltage yet still lack power but that's what happened. With the new PS everything worked fine, no more coil noise, stable system.I've periodically had a few problems that come and go, mostly with new Nvidia drivers and Battlefield 4. Sometimes the system just slows down to the point audio clicks and stutters before cutting out, mouse stops responding, system almost freezes but every 5 seconds or so the cursor can be moved for 1/2 second. That is pretty rare and seems to be driver related more than the card. The biggest negative I have isn't really the cards fault. Hardware accelerated video compression doesn't work anymore in Badaboom, or Sony Movie Studio Platinum. Apparently the new GPU in these cards has a completely different core and shader setup meaning that all CUDA software written for the older 260 and GTX640 based cards, fails to work on the newer GPU. The software still runs, it just doesn't accelerate anything. It's been more than 2 years since these cards hit the market and Sony even has Movie Maker 13 out now, and it STILL doesn't accelerate GPU rendering. YOu would think that having a built in MPEG4 encoder in these cards, that SOMEBODY could accelerate video and movie compression and rendering, but nope.Nvidia Shadowplay does work with this card though and for the most part it works beautifully. I've been using fraps for almost 10 years and one of the biggest problems with it is that it can only do full resolution, or 1/2. So if you're playing a game in 1920x1080 fraps can only cap in 1920 or 960x540. You cant capture in other resolutions like 720p unless you play the game at 720p resolution. Shadow play on the other hand lets you capture video in any resolution, regardless of what res you play your game in. It also captures in high quality 60fps MP4 format resulting in beautiful and liquid smooth videos. It doesn't affect the framerate in game either. One downside is shadowplay doesn't seem to work in every game. It works in most games but Ace of Spades for instance it doesn't even show up on the screen. And Kerbal space program for some reason sometimes captures at the wrong aspect ratio leading to everything looking stretched in the video. This card is being used with an I7 4770k and I can play most games at max detail at acceptable frame rates. Even newer games like Arkham City Origins, Farcry 3, The new Tomb Raider, can all be played at max detail and 1080p.Old review: I'm upgrading from a GTX460, a card with a higher power draw than the 660 and my power supply does just fine with the other card. My UPS reports total power usage (including monitor) of 250 watts when gaming (my old card was 299) so it uses less power than my old one, yet causes a lot of power problems. I spent 2 hours trying to fix, trying different power connectors and finally, disgusted, put my old card back in. I have a replacement on the way and I will change my review if it works. Also throwing a 850watt power supply at it to be sure it's not my PSU.

Very nice card for the price
I just upgraded to the gtx660 from my old card, the gtx285. Was it a huge leap? mostly yes. Counting all the cards that nvidia lists, there have been 41 new cards come out since I bought my gtx285 several years ago. I would have really expected a HUGE jump in performance but surprisingly it wasn't THAT huge. There are several things that factor into this card being better. Heat! Heat was a huge issue with the 285 card and what I mean by that is that it produced a crap ton of heat when it was on. If I played a video game for a couple hours, the temp in my computer room would raise by at least 2-5 degrees. It was absolutely horrible for putting out heat. I can honestly say that the 660 is the coolest video card I think I have ever had. My game temps in the case run around 45C now. Previously with the 285 I would be running at 58-59C. What a difference! Now consider also that I have 6 120mm cooling fans in my case, so its not like there isn't enough cooling, the 285 card just runs really freaking hot!Now for Frames per second. I really did expect a much bigger leap in fps numbers then what I got. Now dont get me wrong, it improved a lot, but a video card that is several years newer then my 285 card, I felt should have performed better. On average, in the same video games I was playing with the 285 card, My frames have went up on average by 20-30fps. That is a pretty significant improvement especially if you are playing first person shooters that are graphic intensive. I will admit though that it did allow me to do one thing that I normally turn off in almost all games I play and that is shadows. Shadows are a huge hit on your fps in any game you play so having those on and with the higher fps, it is well worth the price of the card compared to the old 285 card. So if you are like me and have an old 285 card that has performed wonderfully all these years, feel confident that the 660 is worth the money, heck just for have significantly less heat!

Disaster - Cost $320 to repair damage that ocurred right after this card was installed.
Note to begin: The Video Card purchased definitely was compatible with our system specifications but when installed, the computer would no longer boot up. When the new card was removed and the original video card was reinstalled, the sytem still would not boot up. We took the unit to a reputable local computer repair center (with the new video card) and they diagnosed a faulty video card and a fried motherboard. Their work order stated "GTX Video card is non functional. Motherboard is nonfunctional, probably due to installation of faulty video card."So, the $200 viedo card purchase resulted in the need to purchase a new card from the computer repair shop as well as a new motherboard. Total repair cost on top of the new video card and installation - $320. Too bad I tried to save some $$$ with this card.

A number of issues
I am only writing it because replacing the card with another GTX 660 (Gigabyte) resolved pretty much all problems. With the provided driver, crashed NFS Most Wanted 2 (dark screen with sound) within like five minutes. Fine, let's update the driver with the one either from the EVGA website, or NVIDIA... In the middle of updating ("clean install" checked), monitor loses signal, low-frequency beep from the case, at which point the system is not responding to keyboard. Hard reset and things seem to be working. This happened every time during driver update. Minor issues: crashes after waking up the system, also random Aero transparency disable (Win 7 x64). And so on.No thanks.

Faulty
Received very fast. Installed and updated drivers. As soon I started to run a game (atlantica online) I get a blinking black screen saying "nvidia display driver has stopped responding..." Until it crashes or goes to the blue screen of death. After reformatting, reinstalling all of my updates and programs and the drivers again as suggested, from the site and not the cd, same error. Called evga and they said its faulty. Called amazon for a new card and it was sent out right away free of charge. Product rating 0. Customer support for amazon 5.
