Because a $500 bike wasn't an option...
In full disclosure, I am a newbie. Overall, I am very impressed with look, fit, feel of this bicycle. The bike is exceptionally light weight and provides an upright seating position that is comfortable. In terms of assembly, this unit goes together quickly; however, can be finicky to get "just right". Many reviewers state that they took their bike to a bike shop for final tuning and I think that is a smart investment, for both safety and longevity. In two days I have put app. 10 miles on the bike and hear are my initial thoughts:* I am 5' 11", 210lbs with a 31" inseam. The 53cm model fits me like a glove.* The seat is a man-eater...replace it or feel its wrath.* The chain derailer does not like to work smoothly for each gear...professional tune up will fix* The brakes (front and rear) will take patience to set and true to the wheels...professional tune up will fix* The bike ships "dry". Make sure you oil/lubricate each screw, bolt, joint, moving part prior to riding.

Not complaining?
Greetings,After months of staring at the pictures of the diverse 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, I took another reviewer's advice and went with the 1.0. I received the cycle without damage. The first thing I notice was the frame was different as one other reviewer stated.(CORRECTION: The latest model you see now is what I received. The one that I spoke of from before was an earlier and is just discontinued model so DON'T WORRY ABOUT RECEIVING A DIFFERENT BIKE FROM WHAT YOU SEE!) Everything was in its place. Fairly easy to assemble. It was my first time assembling a geared cycle but Im a handyman so it came with ease. It was so easy that when I was finished I was concerned I wasn't. I was like "thats it"? Although there is tuning and truing that will still need to be done. The only hiccup was when I had to tune the front brakes. The 3 hole tensions mounts were not symmetrically welded. In order to tune the brake correctly, I had to install the left brake arm in the top fitting and the right arm in the middle fitting.(see photo)DIFFERECES:FRAME: I received the Diverse 2.0 frameDERAILER: Shimano TZ TourneyHANDLE BAR/GRIPS : Diverse 2.0 handle bar and some basic unknown grips.CRANK: 2.0's prowheel logo on crank armFIRTS RIDE:-Seat not comfortable but expected-handle grips not comfortable-very smooth ride!-gears work smoothly! up and downhill. The left and right shifters seemed a little stiff at first.OVERALL:I am proud of my purchase. Its gonna be a great cycle. I admired the 1.0's basic boxed frame, but after receiving the 2.0's frame, I have come to like it. If you like the 1.0 for its simplicity in design, I hope you receive it. Even with receiving all these anonymous parts. I still like the cycle. There will be upgrades in the near future(seat, grips etc.) but thats with every bike. The cycle looks great. Im still deciding on removing the stickers and changing the color. Maybe somewhere down the road lol! I feel everything turned out for the better.Last words:"GET IT, CUSTOMIZE IT, MAKE IT YOURS. THERE IS A REASON WHY BATMAN MAKES HIS ON CARS!"

Get the Vilano 1.0 while it lasts
the Vilano Diverse 1.0 is the very definition of the "poor man's Porsche". If one is looking for a hybrid with reliable components, this is it. who needs the bells & whistles of the 3.0 model? This is the same bike but I'm sure inventories are running out fast.

Still struggling with rear derailleur and grip shift
The bike overall is solid. I assembled it using the videos on the Vilano website and then took it to my local bike shop for professional adjustments because I am admittedly a novice in this area. The bike rode just fine until I attached my kids bike trailer. Since then, rear derailleur has become difficult/impossible to change for gears 1-4. I am wondering if the bike trailer is adding stress to the quick release wheel and threw something off. I have to try to adjust it again - this is much more adjusting I was hoping would be necessary for a new bike. I will say that even width the limited access to gears - it's a lighter and stronger bike than the forty year old Raleigh I was riding and much easier for towing 90lbs of toddlers, associated gear and bike trailer.

Decent for the price.
Bike was delivered in one day. Only minor adjustment was needed for the brakes. A bit disappointed the seat is not quick release. A wrench is required to adjust the seat. The bottom gear on the bottom of the Derailleur appears to be plastic. Not sure how long this will hold up. I purchased this to replace my 10 year old mountain bike and am pleased with the speed. Plan to upgrade the seat

Great Bike
This is the first bike I've had in years. it was easy to put together and adjust although I still took it to the local bike shop to double check my work. I've ridden the bike for 20 miles so far and no issues. The seat was rough on the first ride, but it's starting to feel a lot more comfortable. I'm really enjoying this purchase so far. Shipping was fast and hassle free.

Solid and lightweight
Got my bike a day early. Solid bike. Welds are nice. Gears index well right out of the box. Breaks work well and needed very little fine tuning. Wheels are nearly true. Pedals are cheap but work well for now. Paint is perfect. Cheap seat but it’s really not bad. missing: one of the bolts for the rear reflector and one of the valve caps. Not a big deal. All in all I’m happy with it and excited to take it out this weekend.

Great bike for the money!
Very Nice Bike, Packaging was great. The assembly was easy and adjustments and tuning fairly simple. Over all a great looking bike, very light, easy to use controls.
