desertcart.com: The Traitor (Tommy Carmellini Book 2) eBook : Coonts, Stephen: Books Review: Thanks Stephen Coonts! - Great read with Jake Grafton and Tommy Carmellini. Good story and the good guys win, which is the way I like a story to end. Review: Pure Entertainment! - I've been a follower of Stephen Coonts for awhile and the "Traitor" didn't disappoint me! Stories written in the first person can be awkward to read, but not this one. The plot was easy to follow; the characters were described perfectly, and the humor was top-notch! Humor interjected into any kind of story is essential, in my opinion. My 4* review is only because I think there was a little too much detail at times, which distracted from where the story was going at the time. Other than that...well done!

The Best of Coonts
I followed Coont's since his Flight of the Intruder. I think this is his best book. The writing has a literary quality, and the convoluted tale seems well connected. The first person account of events reminds me of the Mike Hammer novels of the fifties with a detective story slant. The science almost fiction of the ray gun adds an intriguing and attention getting element as does the realistic romantic tension. The foreshadowing proves nicely prophetic. I am curious what role Jim DeFelice plays in the writing.

A great yarn, without a doubt
A great yarn, without a doubt. Coonts does a wonderful job bringing the reader into the world of espionage and embedding the location (Paris) into the story with supreme skill. The motivations of all the characters don't always make sense, though, which deducted one point from the rating. Still: a great action/adventure/spy story.

Another excellent Stephen Coonts novel!
Although the characters contine through the books there is always something slightly different. You know they are going to win, but the story is believable enough and drags you in. The details are well crafted, the stories believable, and the characters broad enough to keep them from getting old.

Great Reading!
Stephen Coonts has produced another exciting novel. Tommy Carmellini and Jake Grafton team up in a novel of international intrigue to stop an Al Quada plot to assassinate world leaders at a conference in France. So much is going on that its impossible to discover who the bad guys are. French Intelligence, the CIA, Israeli Intelligence all play a role as murders surround the search for an Al Quada informant. Muslim extremists try to kill Tommy Carmellini while mystery surrounds multiple deaths him. This is an exciting book and definitely one you won't put down. By all means, read this novel!

The first genuine Coonts for some time, the cloned ones don't count. This reprises the characters of Tommy Carmellini and Jake Grafton (lamely 'brought out of retirement') in a highly feasible tale of an attempt by Al Qaeda to assassinate all of the world leaders present at the recent G8 summit. Superbly written in both third person and first person from Carmellini's point of view. Really very good, keeps you interested.

The Tommy Carmellini books are a good follow on from the writer's Jake Grafton series with a continuity of characters. An enjoyable read which kept the pages turning. I am now on book 3.

The book they sent me was soft covered but fell apart within hours of my starting to read it. Very little glue on the spin. Disappointed.
