Much more than a pedometer, zip tracks your steps, distance, and calories burned then automatically syncs the data to your Fitbit account. Whether online or through the Fitbit application, you can set goals and stay motivated to keep on your path to fitness with graphs, badges, and friendly competitions. Check to see how you compare with friends and family even provide a message to egg them on. Your stats wirelessly upload via computer or select mobile devices (like the iPhone 4S), so you will know in real time when you are close to a goal and when you've reached one. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I reset my tracker? lf your tracker is not responding, it may be fixed by restarting. Open the battery door using the battery door tool and remove the battery. Wait 10 seconds. Place the battery back into the tracker with the "+" side facing up, and close the door. Your Zip will now be reset. You will see your tracker's version number, followed by a series of Fitbit Smilies. When you tap your tracker, you should be able to navigate through the screens as you normally would. How do I reinstall the battery? Your Zip's display is powered by a 3V coin battery, CR 2025. If your Zip won't turn on, it may be due to a drained or misaligned battery. To reinstall the battery in your Zip: Insert the battery door tool into the rear door slot of your Zip and turn it counter-clockwise to unlock the battery door. Remove the door and battery. Reinsert your battery with the positive (+) end facing up, and replace the battery door. Insert the battery tool and turn clockwise to lock the battery door. The door should be flush with the rear of the tracker.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince
Amazon shows me that I bought my Zip on Nov. 14, 2014. We were faithfully attached for almost four years exactly before, last week, I accidentally ran him through the washer and dryer. I've been despondent ever since. He was possessed of neither bells nor whistles. He tracked steps and calories burned and not much else. He wasn't fancy; I always kept a store of CR-2025 batteries for when he grew weak. And yet he far outlasted my family members' much more expensive Fitbit One and Charge 2. He was small and nondescript; I could clip him on my pants and my wrist was free to wear a more aesthetically pleasing watch. Had I not been so careless, I don't doubt he could've lasted another four years. The only downside: I'm pretty sure I only paid around $50 in 2014. And this now very old model is currently almost $80. Still, he's worth it. Come soon, payday, and reunite us.

Bring back the fitbit one!
I had a fitbit one for years. Loved it. But sadly it died. (Owners fault. I washed it). I got the Zip and was a little sad by the shape. My fitbit one I tucked in my bra. This does not do that as well. But I could overlook that. The zip was fine, for about two weeks. Then the battery died. Just a fluke I assumed. I replaced the battery. Three weeks later the battery died. Replaced again. This new one lasted two weeks. *sigh*I called the fitbit people and they were nice. I sent them my zip and they sent me a new one. Huzzah! Mission accomplished. Except... two weeks into the new fitbit... battery died. AGAIN. So the product works fine, except every three weeks I need to buy a new battery. I still have the item, but am rather annoyed. I want my one back.I think fitbit is trying to faze out the clip pedometers and go to just the wrist bands. Alas.

Only open app a few times a day to sync (then close) and only one device.
The trick to using this device is to CLOSE the app when you're not syncing. I only sync three to four times a day, then I promptly CLOSE the app. Additionally, ONLY use the app on ONE device. (i.e. NOT both your phone and tablet) Doing both of those things, made the battery last for months. Unfortunately, there are NO instructions that come with the device, so you have to figure these things out on your own. That would be my only complaint. For me, this activity tracker works great.

Fitbit Zip is a big fat ripoff
Have had this for 4 years now. Received a replacement which I lost and now all Fitbit says is "we sent you a replacement, pound sand." The battery lasts a handful of days. I bought a new one last week. The one I got in 2016 was $49, the one I got last week (also from Amazon) was $179.00. I'm pretty sure the cost of living hasn't got up nearly 400% but the price of a Fitbit Zip has.I was hoping for improvement when Google bought it but no such luck.

Do not waste your time. Notorious for sync failures.
This has been the single most frustrating fitness tracker experience that I have ever had. Connecting the device to smart phones (OnePlus 6T. Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9) and computers (via the included USB dongle) is a breeze and works the first time on every device. Syncing after that first connection works every time, as well. After that, it's a crap-shoot as to whether the thing will sync to anything. I bought TWO of these pieces of garbage and haven't been able to get either to sync to ANY of my six devices in over 24 hours. I tried removing and repairing and none of my devices (in two separate locations) can even find either of these things now.The Play Store reviews are chock full of people experiencing the same problem. This is just a sub-par product.I did manage to do one successful sync with a hammer before tossing the one that's at my current location into the garbage (as the photo shows). I'll do the same to the other tomorrow.

Short lifespan, easy to lose, better trackers for the money you spend replacing lost or dead Zips
Another edit:I've had 4 Zips. Three went kaput and I just lost the 4th, which was a warranty replacement. I like the device. I thought about replacing it, but I've already sunk over $150 on Zips that die far too young and get lost far too easily. I'm going to resist sinking even more money into this bottomless pit. The devices are too expensive to have a 6 month lifespan and/or fall off so easily. I've nearly lost them multiple times previously, just was lucky enough to feel it falling. I have no idea where the missing bright pink Zip is (2 green and 2 pink). I was not at home so it's gone forever.Had to amend my review from 4 star. I think this is actually my 3rd Zip. After a year, it's going kaput. I put in a new battery 2 weeks ago and already I'm getting a low battery signal. The first battery lasted about 4 months, then each successive battery dies more quickly. The Zip works well, but doesn't have any durability. I don't think a year, sometimes 6 months, is a good lifespan for a product of this sort, especially as it literally seems to disintegrate the longer it's in use. And I have heard the same from other Zip owners. It's great but starts eating batteries and then dies.My husband bought me a Fitbit Alta. I prefer the clip on style of the Zip, but it's just too expensive and annoying to keep replacing it. I definitely do not recommend this fitness tracker if you want one that will last longer than a year.Edited to add: I contacted Fitbit and they are replacing the Zip - only the tracker, not the dongle or the clip case. I'm not expecting this new Zip to have any greater durability than the others, but at least I didn't have to spend more money for replacing it. I'm liking the Alta, but find wearing it as a bracelet isn't as comfortable as my good old Zip. I usually wear both of them but lately the Zip has been spacing out, losing thousands of steps and generally being about as useful as a cabbage. Expect to see another update if new Zip is better/worse/same as old Zip.*************** original reviewIt's my second Zip - after a year of carrying it in a pocket or my bra, I think my body heat warped the case. Neither my daughter nor I could fit the battery cover on after changing out the battery. Nonetheless, I find carrying a pedometer to be quite motivating to get in the exercise I need. I take off my watch, any bracelets and all rings save my wedding band when I'm in my house, so I wasn't interested in the bracelet version. I carry the Zip in a pocket, clip it to a bra strap, sometimes drop it into my bra or bathing suit. The Zip has survived many an accidental pool dunking or machine washing. The acid green color makes it easier to find. Apologies for the random arrangement of my review - multitasking here.

Small, simple fitness tracker
I got this for mum as she's going to try and be more fit. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so small and it also didn't have very good instructions (mum knows nothing about tech). But once it got working, it was great. It even survived a round in the washing machine!

Neat, simple little device. Compares well to Fitbit ...
Neat, simple little device. Compares well to Fitbit One but you can't recharge it, so I would have got another One if I had known this as within a week of receipt the battery had to be replaced. UPDATE. I've added another star as I read another review that complained about the battery life and Fitbit Support Team gave some troubleshooting info which I followed. The low battery message has disappeared so it looks like the problem has been solved.

I absolutely love my Fitbit
I absolutely love my Fitbit. I think it is superior to a normal pedometer because the app is very motivating. You can connect the app to my fitness pal which allows you to input your daily food intake. This is very motivating. I have had a couple of these now. The battery does not last as long as six months but is easy to change and they are easy to find. I have put the Fitbit through the washing machine twice by mistake and it survived! I bought this specific one for a friend as I think they are brilliant.

Great buy
Really pleased with this. It works so much better than many other, more expensive ones I've tried, and just took a gamble on this because it looked good value for the price, and I also had the safety net of Amazon's return policy. It is accurate! I've tested it on several occasions, and it's always been fine. If you're looking for a simple pedometer, and not something that tells you everything from your horoscope to your inside leg measurement, then I would fully recommend this.

Brilliant Product.
Really easy to set up and synch with a iPhone. I wear this nearly every day, tells me how many steps i have done. By accident I left it attached to my walking trousers which i then throw into the washing machine. Found it when hanging washing on line, thought thats it caput!!! Dried it out and left it overnight and 2 months later its still working like a dream. Defiantly recommend this product.
