Less than 10 mins. I usually switch mine on 5 - 10 mins before bed time. However, for the very first time when brand new, it takes longer, please be patient and leave it on at the highest heat level 3 for say 20 to 30 mins and cover the blanket with a duvet or normal blanket to retain the heat. Nice and warm (takes about half hour to get to a decent temp. when its on 3 but gets warmer if you leave it longer. Only down side is the plug is on my side and I can feel it when I am sitting in bed watching tv. It is quite hard on my elbow. I have on top of a memory foam mattress but under a mattress saver and a bottom sheet. It isnt warm right to the edges of the bed which, if you are cold, you probably will notice, especially if you are in bed with a large partner and cant move nearer to the middle, but I am always glad of a cool space to put my feet, when I get too hot , and my other half still wants the blanket left on a while !
