Decyl Glucosides are 'green' surfactants made entirely from plant material, which are renewable and natural. They do not make a perfectly clear product, it is slightly straw-yellow in colour, but still transparent and 100% biodegradable.Decyl glucoside is produced by the reaction of glucose from corn starch with the fatty alcohol decanol which is derived from coconut.BlendingMore care is required with sulfate-free bases when blending in essential or fragrance oils. This base is designed to be stable in accepting 0.8% to 1% (max) essential/fragrance oils.If the product clouds it has reached saturation. To successfully blend in essential/fragrance oils, a slow and careful approach is required. Recommendations are to use a wide stirring device, slowly, adding 1/4 of the essential/fragrance oil, gently folding/stirring until fully absorbed, then repeat this step for the second, third and fourth quarters.Always test your additions on a small scale before embarking on larger production. Fast agitation of this product may induce air bubbles which will render the product translucent. These air bubbles may take several days or even weeks to clear, so a slow and careful agitation is recommended.If you experience difficulty in getting essential oils or fragrances to dissolve into this base, it may be heated to 35 degC which can help. Heating this product does not reduce viscosity. Heating is not usually necessary but may help if working in conditions under 20 degC.
