16 G memory upgrade Dell xps8300
Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1333 MHz (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory 1.5V I ordered these to upgrade a Dell xps8300 desktop computer from 8G to 16G. The factory-installed memory was in the form of four 2GB modules (one in each of the available memory slots). This product consists of two 8GB modules, so there is still room to expand to 32GB total, although the system only recognizes 16G without some tweaking. Based on the instructions that came with the memory kit and the Dell users manual, the modules need to go into the slots marked 1 and 2 (not contiguous but easily identified by number '1' and '2' and also the fact that these two slots have white latches versus black for the other two). The last of the attached pictures shows the layout. Removing the old units was easy once they were exposed. The main detail is to move the spaghetti of power cables out of the way to get a clear handle on them. Just press down on the two latches per slot and the modules slipped out without requiring any force. Likewise the new modules slipped in easily and lifting up on the latches while holding the card down worked smoothly. After turning on the power, everything booted up as usual without issue. Checking the installed memory via System information, it showed 16GB installed memory. I also ran Dell diagnostics to check everything and everything passed. I've only had them installed for a couple of weeks so I can't rate the durability (other reviewers have noted failure after months of use) but for value and apparent quality, I gave it 5 stars. Did it make a difference? Well it didn't hurt :) The performance rating from the System dialog (for what it may be worth) didn't change much between before and after the upgrade. But I think I can say it did speed up loading Shadow of the Tomb Raider game on Steam slightly, though not much difference in actual game play. The biggest factor there is probably the graphics card, and that's another jump up in $$$. System: Dell xps8300 (Aug 2011) Intel Core i7-2600 @3.4 GHz 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Graphics card nVidia GEForce GT 530

Reliable and inexpensive memory modules
When I upgraded my computer to the Core i7, which requires DDR3 RAMs I had to upgrade the memories too alone with a new compatible motherboard. I end up choosing this PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 Memory Kit. I've ordered the first set and then two weeks later, I've decided the computer may perform better with double the memory. I went ahead and ordered a second set which was $16 cheaper. It's relatively inexpensive considering having a total of 16 GB. These relatively cool running memory sticks works extremely well with my new system. In conjunction with my new processor. DDR2 and DDR3 has the same dimension slot with 240 pins but aren't compatible with each other and therefore purposely made with a different position blocking cut-out to prevent insertion on the non-compatible system. DDR3 has a lower voltage requirements then DDR2 and therefore consume less electricity. These memory modules requires only 1 1/2 volts to operate. I have no problems with both sets and are extremely happy with these memory sticks. I highly recommend this product to anyone.

Corsair does it well
As a product all by itself the memory is definitely impressive. Surely it's not the fastest CL memory your money can buy. That said you are far better of with CAS 9 memory and a larger quantity memory kit than say a 3GB CAS7 2000 MHz kit. I think that the everyday user will find this true. Corsair did it well. This is high-density memory that runs CAS9 at 1333 MHz is rock solid and I am very happy with speed and stability of this memory. In fact there is some tweaking potential to be found here as well, but hey, why not stick at 1333 MHz, go for absolutely as advertised low voltage stability while your memory bandwidth runs already high, it is more than enough for your overall performance for most of us. As cool as it sounds, you will not noticeably gain a lot by going higher in frequency or timings, trust me on that. So why not invest in more memory?

great ram!
So heres my take this ram is a great value .. with my amd system i havent been able to overclock it to 1600 mhz like others have claimed but i can still get tight timeings with this kit by the way .. i did pair two different kits togeather i bought a 4x8gb set of the same corsair ram origianally different serial numbers but i put these in with no post issues or ram check issues .and got zero errors the previous ram has had no errors either. solid ram right out of the box currently im running with 16gb of ram and trust me i noticed the difference right off the bat.. my 3d mark scores went up as well as the boot time went down it really made a great improvement now on my system im getting a 7.6 windows exspirience as far as this ram is concerned for the price i cant complain and i would recommend this as a great value upgrade for any capable system.

Dhr.berg

This gave new life to my older Amd Phenom pc i had in store. It perfectly fits all the older Amd 880/890 motherboard chipsets. Highly recommended if anyone wants to keep an older Amd machine going. Seems to me this Corsair dram runs very stable.
