The Birth of Soul Vol.4

Having seen there's only one review for such a good compilation, I thought I'd write a brief over view for it. I bought this compilation 5 years ago and I still play this cd today, It's 59.24 mins long, the sound quality is great as expected from a 'Kent/Ace' records release and it comes with an informative colour booklet. There are over ten fantastic tracks on this cd - too many to mention them all, but a few would be 'Come on and stop' by Marv Johnson, 'I came running back from the party' by Wade flemons and 'Puff (up in smoke) by our own Kenny Lynch (There's an absolutely fantastic compilation of Kenny's HMV sides on 'RPM' records - Nothing but the real thing). The rest of the tracks range from average to good with only a couple of weak tracks in my opinion. Overall, its a great way to spend an hour of your music listening time.

Difficult to listen through once even. Scraping the bottom of the barrel with volume 4, as the earlier ones all have plenty of good stuff. When Kenny Lynch is being sold as soul precursor, you know you are in trouble! Oxfam here it comes!
