5.11 Men's ATAC 8In Boot-U Boot

I work at well known shipping company. These boots only lasted year and half, (bought in nov 2014) they held up for two peaks on piece of crap uneven grating, constant climbing on to belts and dropping down, the 10 flights of stairs every day and dropping irregular weight/size packages on my feet. The occasional foot/kick breaking jams, and the 50 ft incline climb on top of packages to break the jam at the top, and 10 miles of walking to rush packages to loads at seal times every night. It has taken the abuse. That was just the start, I use these outside of work, working on cars, doing yard work, getting on the roof and just wearing them because I hate sneakers and tennis shoes. I would say I have abused these and put them in very stressful conditions, the fact they have held up for a year and half is amazing. Most boots in this price range only last me between 6-8 months before complete failure. The cheap boots from a big box store only last me 3 months. I'm not willing to drop 300-500 on expensive boots from several known brands.The soles are worn at the ball of foot, two plastic eyelets where the laces are first started have broke but the leather held up, the sole has separated on left boot. The stitching on the left has started to go.The zipper is what I like the most on these boots, it allows me to strap on and get going. Once in awhile I will re-tie my boots due to looseness or different thickening socks. It has not given me any problems. It was one of my concerns at the time of purchase that it may break off at some point or get caught or separate from the boot material but that has not been the case.Wearing these boots almost everyday, I don't mind standing for long hours in these boots they are comfortable to the point I don't even think about it. You might need to replace the insoles at some point but they will give your feet and lower back proper support, something I need in the industry that I work in.Now that my boots are falling apart and presenting a safety issue, I need to order some new ones. thanks again A.T.A.CThe only thing A.T.A.C needs to improve on these boots is the eyelets, I broke them a few weeks after purchase.

after 2 month review:pro's:they're comfortable as heck and only took 2 work days in a warehouse to break them in. previous boots took me mixing and matching between 10 different insoles to finally find something that was bearable but still not comfortable to wear.they're super light which makes them nice to stand/walk in for 8+ hour work shifts. when i first got them i thought the box i received was empty, lol.Con's:the slip resistant rating is worthless below 40F. you might as well just be wearing flat bottom shoes because even a slight amount of water and you'll probably fall.exterior quality is on par with the cheaper Chinese made boots you can get from wally world.they're definitely not meant for cold climates since they do nothing to keep your feet warm.the heal of the sole has a slight ridge that is too high and makes it feel like you're stepping on the bottom edge of your pants if you tend to wear extra long pants like i do. i find my self constantly checking even though i know i'm not.i would recommend these boots for some one that lives in warmer drier regions but not sure the price is worth it though. will update after 6 months of use which is usually when i see issues crop up with cheaper brands.

I bought two pairs of 5.11 ATAC Side Zip boots (the black and coyote). I've owned a pair of these boots for the last 10 years and even survived a motorcycle wreck in the last pair.They are still good boots and well made but one thing did stand out to me: The last time I bought these boots I had paid ~$90 for them and now they were something like $105 or $110. With the price increase I would expect the materials to either stay the same or improve. Instead, some of the materials are much flimsier than the older pair that I have. One area this is quickly apparent is the flap of material that is behind the side zip of the boot when it's zipped up. The old boots have a rather thick piece of sturdy leather. The new boots have a thin and flimsy feeling piece of nylon backed faux leather thing. So far it's not been a problem but it seemed odd and was immediately noticeable. Not sure if the rest of the boot is as solid as the old pair as a result.

This is my 6th pair of 5.11 ATAC 8" boots with zipper and as with the previous Coyote color pairs, the toe is separating from the sole, which lets the water flow in (this did not happen with the Sage colored pair but they don't make these any more - go figure). And the worst part is that I began wearing them in June 2018 - 5 months ago - and already they are done. This is the quickest they have ever given up the ghost.In all fairness, I wear these in the woods every morning to walk the dog and this has been the rainiest season I can ever remember, but still! They fit like a glove out of the box and are the most comfortable boots ever, but if I have to buy two pairs a year, I need to look elsewhere. I just picked up a pair of Bates GX-8 Comp Toe Side Zip Work Boot so will see how they survive.One other note on the 5.11s; they are not meant for winter wear as the sole has zero anti-skid support. Once cold weather comes I switch to my Columbia snow boots to grip. Hoping the Bates do better but will report back on those in the Spring.Sorry 5.11; I want to love you but you are just not living up to your side of the deal.

What can I say an excellent boot my last pair I wore the tread out completely wore these from the box great to travel in excellent support all round on sole of foot and ankle fit like a glove about to buy my 3rd pair had this pair 3 months use them for work want a pair I can leave at home just to rotate my footwear

Excellent boots. Wear them every day in all weathers. Motorcycle to work, walking, driving and even in the snow. Comfortable in all conditions.

Great, have two other pairs, at sent these back, as wrong size. Fantastic boots though.
