Jack Dempsey Needle Art 7411 Sampler Vintage Revival Quilt, 12 Block, 18-Inch by 18-Inch, White

The stitches used to create this quilt top is such that, if you stitch neatly, the white is not an issue.I’m completing this as a black and white vs red work.

I don't love the fabric that the pattern is printed on, it is not 100% cotton and is sort of sheer so your under-stitching shows through when your working your embroidery from part to the next. I Didn't realize it was that bad until I completed a section and ended up pulling the thread out, and using fuse-able interfacing on the back side and starting over. It would be nice if they made transferable patterns so you could pick the fabric you want to use.Other than that, the printed pattern is easy to see and work with. There are quilting marks for adding your quilting lines so if you wanted to hang these instead of using them to create the quilt you would want to wash them first (after you have finished a section. I am assuming that the pattern will wash out, I haven't finished a square yet so not sure.The directions were pretty clear, and easy to follow. They only have instructions for three stitches, back stitch, cross stitch and french knot so if you want to use any other types of stitches you will need to look elsewhere for a reference if you don't already know any.

These quilt blocks are really handy and the patterns are easy to complete. I have completed another that was similar to this only I used all dark purple - It turned out to be beautiful when it was put together and quilted (by hand). I can't wait to get this one going... Since some of the squares look like snowflakes, I may do this in a blue .... but the red is very pretty too ! Or maybe I'll not do it in a solid color and just add lots of color all around.... Planning is half the fun!

This came within a week, so pretty quick. The package calls for twenty-nine skeins of floss. The other review is spot on with the materiel. It's too sheer and the thread unfortunately shows through. The blocks are 18 inches, which is fine when reading the size, but actually viewing them...they are huge with the stitching being pretty big as well. So it's not delicate work. This would be perfect for a beginning cross stitcher.

Really liked this set, enough variety that you can't get bored working them.

Product was exactly as described. I decided to complete the embroidery in multiple colors of my choosing rather than as depicted in momochrome. The embroidery requires multiple stich types. I love it.
