Great nipples!
My son, like most babies, uses a bottle from time to time! As new parents, we got all different sizes of nipples assuming that he would start at the newborn size and work his way up, newborn, then size 1 then size 2 etc etc. However, that is not the case.. Our son born october started with a size 1. Any other size he would spit out or sound like he was choking from the milk shooting into the back of his throat. 6 months later, he is still using.. size 1. The doctor states that whatever size they are comfortable with is the size they will stick with. It was explained that the ducts on mom's nipple dont get any bigger so why should the nipples you put on a bottle. Made sense to us. Now these nipples, we've tried a few different brands and these Avent ones were the ones that our son decided on. Had nothing to do with the fact that we liked them. We got various nipples and bottles and used the ones he didnt spit up as much with, and immediately latched on. for the dads out there that will need to feed while the breastfeeding mom is at work or sleeping, make sure you take the time to find a nipple/bottle that works! I would have my son write this review as he uses these nipples frequently but I fear for the life of my keyboard as he likes sucking on these nipples.... and everything else!

Good quality
Our daughter is exclusively bottle-fed formula. We received on of these bottles from our pediatrician in a bag of samples. We started off with the Tommy Tippee bottles, but when we tried this bottle, she LOVED it and it caused a lot less gas for her. The progression of these nipples is a bit different than that of some other bottles. The nipples included with the 4 ounce bottles are Newborn/0m+, or newborn. I didn't realize that Avent has a 1m+ nipple, and my daughter got very frustrated with the 0m+ at about 3 weeks of age. My advice would be to have a few 1m+ on hand so you can switch when they are ready to without dragging a newborn to the store, or waiting on shipping to arrive. After the 1m nipples, you advance to the 3m+ nipples, and I believe the progression is the same as other brands' nipples after that. If you are purchasing 4 ounce bottles, you don't really need these nipples. Order the 1m+ instead.

Good flow, soft, nice shape
For our newborn, we went with the Avent glass bottles. The nipples will wear out eventually, so I bought replacements. Everything I've read says to stick with the slowest flow, even as the child ages. These work great for our child - other bottles' "newborn" nipples were far too fast. The silicone is soft, and he likes the shape.

We only use Avent natural bottles and nipples :)
Great nipples for a newborn and didn't cause any nipple confusion for my baby going from breast to bottle. We have the No.1 flow which is the slowest and recommended for all newborns. This one works perfectly for my 2 month old right now :) They also reduce majorly on gas and colic! Worth the money they cost!! We only use Avent natural bottles and nipples for our child.

Don't leave sitting in water - see pictures
My daughter took these easily after she didn't like the Tommee Tippee Back to Nature ones. They haven't leaked and they clean easily. We breastfeed so I specifically wanted the size 1 nipples, but all the bottles come with size 2, which is a pain, but at least they're not too expensive. Be careful, though, because the tiny number on them that tells you which size is which is very hard to read. My daughter has no trouble going between breasfeeding and these nipples. Word of warning: I tend to wash everything in soapy water and then sanitize. The other night I was exhausted and forgot that I'd put the bottles and pump parts in soapy water and went to bed. The next morning all the parts were fine except for the nipples. The silicone has turned cloudy and it's not a residue that will come off (with scrubbing or sanitizing). I called the Avent product support line and the lady just told me I shouldn't leave them in water overnight. Their packaging says nothing about that, though. She said if they were sanitized then they were safe to use, but I said without an explanation of what happened and why (which she couldn't give), I didn't feel safe giving them to my daughter. So, I'm replacing them, just to be safe, but wanted to warn others. See pictures

great nipples, more holes for easier feeding
Just be aware that the Avent natural nipples add more holes to the nipple as you increase the flow rate instead of just making one hole larger. If you want to add a little baby cereal (I recommend oatmeal, not rice) to your baby's night time bottle (not before 4 months of age), then you'll need a different kind of bottle and nipple like the Medela bottles with medium flow nipple. We've loved our Avent natural bottles and nipples for regular feedings, particularly from 3 weeks to 9 months when I was nursing first and then supplementing with a bottle of formula, and I wanted to make sure that Baby wouldn't have problems going back and forth between the breast and bottle.

No flow
Purchased these to use with a newborn as I thought size 2 would be too big. Both size 2 and 0 do not allow for air flow so liquid is stuck in the nipple. Newborn sucked for 30min to get less than .5oz. Do not purchase.

good product for my happy baby
I'm a fan of Philips Avent bottles and an even bigger fan of their natural set. I do like the classic+ nipples but I have experienced leaking while feeding the baby. The way the natural nipples are designed, I have not experienced leaking and not sure if it is possible. I like that it is wide set, I have not had a problem when switching between the natural nipple and breast, and the nipple is wide enough so it does not completely disappear in baby's mouth while drinking unlike some other brands.
