Special Forces GTX Boot - Men's

I took a huge risk ordering these boots online, without trying them on. I had read a lot of good things about Hanwag, so I took the chance. I wear a 10.5 US size, D width. So, that's what I ordered, and they fit as expected. There was just a little extra pressure on my left pinky toe at first, but as I wear them in the pressure has pretty much disappeared. They fit very nice and comfortable.I purchased the Hanwag Special Forces GTX for my duty boots. I work a 9hr shift, with some OT. And, I'm on my feet all day on concrete and hard floors mostly. I needed good ankle support and that's one reason these boots got picked. They have excellent ankle support. Very little break in time, and they are as comfy as a tennis shoe, but with excellent ankle support. They are also very waterproof. The past few days we've had almost 20 inches of rain, and the boots were used to wade through a lot of water, none over the top though, and they were waterproof. My feet were dry and comfy. I haven't had them long enough to speak on how durable they will be. However, their build quality is excellent. They are built to last with excellent leather and materials.My only issue is the laces, and the lace rings on the vamp of the boots. I hate D rings. I like the hooks of some of their other models. The D rings have always been more difficult for me to use, and they tend to twist the laces. I may try some new laces that are more stiffly made to see if the twisting of the laces will stop. Other than that, I'm 100% happy with my boots. You can't go wrong with Hanwag boots. They are the best in the business.Update: I sent back the first pair. They were just to snug, with my toes touching the end of the boot. I went up one full size to a UK10.5/US11.5, and they fit perfect now with some wiggle room for my toes. Great boots, but keep in mind it seems they may run a touch small.Update: I've worn the boots for the past four months every day at work. I work in a prison, with concrete to walk on. And, I work outside a lot in the heat of the Texas sun. The boots are FANTASTIC. My feet have not gotten hot. I wear coolmax socks, which helps a lot. I can tell the ventilation system in the boots works great. My feet simply are not sweating that much, and they aren't getting hot, even in the Texas sun. I've had the opportunity to test their waterproofness. I've walked in ankle deep water on several occasions, with absolutely no water intrusion into the boots. Several times I even went into water above the tops of the boots, and the only water intrusion was what wicked into the tops of the boots from my socks. My feet stayed DRY and comfortable. The soles have shown zero wear, even though I walk every day for up to 10-12hrs on concrete. The boots have broken in very nice. These boots are simply the very BEST boots on the market today for security and military personnel. They are incredible, and worth every penny you spend on them.

Extremely comfortable. Zero break in time. Fast shipping. I usually wear Lowa boots and these are just as comfortable, if not better. The toe box is extremely roomy for those with a slightly wider foot.

Great boots but D ring lacing system is slow and a pain. Get the Yukon or Alaska models with the hooks.

Certain products engineered and made by Germans are synonymous with the highest quality money can buy: Mercedes-Benz, Leica/Zeiss, Porsche, Hugo Boss, and so on. Hanwag is in the same class. I have owned my Spec Forces GTX boots for over 10 years and they still are perfect, and the best boot I have ever owned. I bought my nephew a pair when he went into the Israeli Defense Forces where he served as squad machine gunner in a rapid reaction infantry unit. Although non-regulation, he was allowed to wear them on ops, and he reports they were amazing. His only "problem" was that his comrades constantly wanted to buy them from him- especially on long hikes!

This is my second pair of Hanwag Special Forces GTX boots, excellent boot, the first pair lasted seven years of hard use until the soles started to come away from the boots. The boots can be resoled so I will reglue the soles back onto the old boots and hopefully will get many more years wear out of them.

Fitted as expected and didn't need breaking in.

Hallo! Ich bin beim Bundesheer und habe den Schuh seit einem Monat und bin schon sehrviel mit dem Schuh gegangen. Zum Maschieren ist der Schuh weltklasse!!Aber mir ist heute bereits die erste Schnürsenkelöse ausgerissen beim Schuhe schnüren!!Dass darf für diesem Preis nicht sein!!

Sehr guter Wanderschuh, komme generell mit HANWAG Schuhen super zurecht.Mein Favorit ist jedoch der Lima GTX. einfach verschiedene Hanwag Modelle ausprobieren und seinen Schuh finden!

Hallo!Hab mit diesem schuh die Belastungsübung für angehende Unteroffiziere im öbh absolviert und kann nur sagen Danke das es diesen Schuh gibt!120km marschleistung sprechen für sich. Sohlenbrand kann man nie verhindern aber das steht ja nicht zur Debatte.. Eine absolute Kaufempfehlung für jeden der viel marschiert.Achtet jedoch auf die richtige Pflege bei dem.schuh. Meiner ist durch reine billigwachs Behandlung schon etwas in mitleidenschaft gezogen worden. An sich merkt man eigentlich keinen unterschied ob man mit oder ohne gore tex unterwegs ist. Schwitzen wird man in einem normalen lederschuh ebenso wie in diesem. Vorteile hat man jedoch bei kälteren tagen und in der Nacht. Hatte bei der besagten die Übung keine blasen druckstellen oder dgl.. Bin daher absolut zufrieden!
