Okay, but a couple of problems
As the description says, the DC550B is an 18V cordless cut-out tool. This is great for someone who needs to "plunge-cut" something such as holes in drywall where power is either hard to get or unavailible. A great tool for electricans! However many of the dremel style cutters and shapers require side cutting. NOT GOING TO WORK with this model. It's just too big. The tool itself is over 2" in diameter at the are right between the cutter and the grip meaning those cutters just won't reach your work. The only option I see is to find a flex shaft extension that will work with this tool to allow you to use those cutters. If I find one I like later on I will update. The other issue this thing has is it only has one speed. There is no varible speed control which I find disappointing.Other than that...it is a nice cut out tool. It has a strong motor that running off Dewalt's 18V packs seems to get plenty of usage. It doesn't slow down or bind any easier than it's corded counterparts. And I like the included depth guide. As others have said it lacks both a battery and a case.

Indispensable
This is one of the last tools that I have that is 18 volt. I have had this tool for years and while I donโt do enough drywall to upgrade to the 20 volt I also appreciate how light the 18 volt batteries are compared to some of the 20 bolts. In this tool there is not a big power drain so the older batteries work great. This tool when get away from you if you arenโt careful, but otherwise I wouldnโt do with out it.

Handy!
I bought this for my husband -- to add to his collection of Dewalt tools. It works well with his current batteries. He used it for the first time this weekend to cut out some sheet rock while replacing a sliding door. Fast cutting! Much faster than the box knife he'd been using. I followed him with a shop-vac to capture any dust -- but there really wasn't as much as I expected. Only complaint -- the bit broke off at the end of the first pass. Apparently, keeping it perpendicular to the wall is paramount. He moved on with the other bit that came with it, and finished the job, but I think we'll need to stock up on more bits.

Makes lots of great holes!
If you need to make a hole in just about anything then the DC550B is for you! So far I have made a hole in every wall of my home, 9 different floors and 2 ceilings that I could reach. I'm not sure what I am going to do with these holes yet but I do so enjoy looking thru them. I know you will too! - Well, your own holes of course. I really would prefer you not look thru mine... Nothing personal, I'm just peculiar like that.

The best j box cutting experience ever
If you need to install drywall over your wired j boxes, it does not get any easier than with this tool. I couldn't believe how long the thing lasted on a old battery either, really efficient. Dewalt does it again!

good price, hard to manage
the DEWALT Bare-Tool DC550B Cut-Out Tool is a great deal. I love DEWALT products and find them well made and built to last. This tool is hard to manage. I tried to use it to cut out some flooring but it was very hard to manage and forget about cutting in a straight line. Stick to dry-wall and maybe thin composite material. I would make sure I need this tool before i would recommend purchasing.

cordless is the way to go
its nice not having to use a roto zip with a cord dragging behind you. this tool works very well, adjusts easily, and handles nicely. its kinda bigger than i thought it would be, but it actually is nice using two hands to operate it. i have more drywalling projects to do in the future and not having to find another cord on the job is great. this tool is holding up well.

Nothing better for cutting drywall.
This tool does not have a hundred uses, but the one thing it does best of all is cutting drywall. There is nothing better and I have used a drywall hand saw, a reciprocating saw, a jigsaw, and a drill with a cutting bit. The closest second is a Dremel tool with a cutting drill-type attachment, but it gets too hot and the dust will wreck it. Every Dewalt tool we have is a workhorse. Only once I needed service and Dewalt service was awesome. BTW, we are doing our own remodeling.I think this tool is well worth the money.

Cheaper than buying a die grinder
Sometimes I use this as a die grinder but it cuts drywall pretty good too

Five Stars
Works perfectly so far. This worked for a while but this product has issues. Upon continued use it starts to vibrate and the will quit working. I would say this is a defective product period. Did work great and let me down within a month. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. DEWALT KNOWS THIS SO GET POUR WARRANTY CARDS UP TO DATE BECAUSE IF YOU ARE A DRYWALL CONTRACTOR THIS WILL NOT LAST A MONTH UNDER NORMAL USE...CHECK THE OTHER REVIEWS ON OTHER SITES AS THEY WILL STATE THE SAME.

Purfect purchase
So happy with this! Had been looking for a cordless 18 volt version of this in stores for years. Works like a charm but be advised, this uses a cutting bit that is like a drill. They are not available through DeWalt any longer but the ones from Dremel work just fine. Highly recommended.

Great quality
I purchased this but returned it as I thought I was getting the 20V version. I will say that the build quality is typical from what you see from dewalt. I was very impressed. A bit big, but so is the 20V version. I can deal with that though.
