Can I use this indoors?

Only if you have the Fire Dept. or Forestry Dept. on standby to get the smoke out of your dwelling. My question is--Why would you want to use it indoors? Do you "normally" grill or smoke food indoors?

What is the size of the grilling grates? I need to know the dimensions of the large and small grate.

Can it be used without the wood pellets?

They don't need to be Traeger pellets but, yes, you need the pellets. They work like wood in a fireplace -- they create the heat by moving down an auger that transports the pellets from a firebox to a heating coil. The speed of the auger determines the temperature. The faster it moves the faster the pellets get to the fire and the higher the temperature is. I love this smoker -- not just for slow smoking, but for the best barbecued chicken I've ever made.

how many amps does it pull?

4 amps at the beginning and then drops to 1.5 amps for the rest of the cook.
