Buttons were easy to install, tutorial was easy to follow. Texture of the buttons is great and they look great, too. The screwdriver is honestly great. I’ve seen some other reviews on eXtremeRate products that say to use your own screwdrivers because the ones that ship with the kit strip screws; I didn't have that experience. I actually tried both my own electronics repair tools and their screwdriver, and ended up using theirs. I did need to file down the SL and SR buttons in order for them to fit, but it just took a couple passes with a nail file to get them where they needed to be. Luckily other reviews had mentioned this, so I had a heads up. One more heads up; if you unplug your battery cables in your joycons like I did, (I had to replace my joystick system as well,) make sure you put the black and red where they were originally. Nothing will explode if you switch them, but you’ll only have power to the joycon if they’re in the right spot. (Think of the positive/negative side of a AA battery.) It’s hard to say how long the installation took because in addition to swapping the buttons, I also replaced the joystick mechanisms and the shells. Total, all three took about 2 hours, maybe 2 and a half. I think the buttons probably took about twenty minutes including the filing I had to do for them to fit properly. All in all, decent product and easy installation! Would definitely buy from them again!

The buttons themselves are fine. They have this soft touch finish that's done with paint, and the whole things is actually just white plastic that's been painted over. Looks alright, but mine has a spot that was missed and a few buttons are partially white as a result. Also the durability will be questionable since they are just painted over instead of colored resin, but we'll see. I've used buttons from BASSTOP and even a custom button seller on eBay, and both have been fine, so if the durability is less than either of those I'll update this and advise against it. Update: After months of use, I will say that these are pretty solid in quality and the soft touch is actually REALLY nice. I get compliments every time I pull out my Switch and I'm going to buy more for another set of Joy Cons soon!

There's pretty much no reason to not also pick up some custom buttons if you're already making custom Joycons. While eXtremeRate's own Joycon shell replacement kits do come with a set of black buttons, as well as your original gray ones from your existing Joycons, chances are if you're already doing a shell swap then you probably want custom button colors too. The colors offered here are mostly identical to the shell colors offered, and they all have hues that work together quite well if you're going to mix and match. These buttons feel more matte than the stock Joycons', which I'd describe as feeling like chalk or a PEZ candy. Additionally, the legends are engraved instead of printed like OEM buttons. I can imagine that some would prefer these for offering more grip for your fingertips, but personally I'd like a more glossy feel like the originals, or possibly the chrome options offered by eXtremeRate. Installing these went flawlessly, and you'd be doing this step during a shell swap regardless of if you're using custom buttons or not, which is why I say you might as well cop these along with a shell replacement. Simply unsnap them from the frame (it doesn't matter if the "base" around the bottom of the button ends up getting a little bit peeled or chipped, as it will not be visible on the inside of the Joycons), ensure you're placing each button in the right spot, line them up with the notches around the holes, and drop them in. Overall, there's not as much to say about these replacement buttons than the shells, but they're still an essential addition for custom Joycons!

This was my first attempt at a shell replacement for the switch joycons and the installation was easy/moderately difficult for me. I started the installation using a random video on YouTube, until I remembered that this shop has a YouTube video with installation videos, and once I started watching their video the process became 100x easier. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the product, and I love the way it turned out. I also purchased the mint & heavenly blue button packs to go for a monochrome look for these joycons and so far, I’m in love! I can’t say much on durability as of right now, as I’ve only been using them for a few days now. Quality out of the packaging is incredible considering the price of new joycons. I was able to get this super cute look and change out some pretty well loved, boring grey joycons and now they look brand new, and fit my preference of style for maybe $30-$40 total with the price of the buttons included. That is a win in my books!

Looks exactly like the pictures. Not hard at all to install, especially with the provided video. Nintendo has designed it so that it's pretty much impossible to put buttons in the wrong place anyway. Just remember which screw goes where. I've had the white buttons on the Dark Green set for about a year, and they haven't stained yellow or anything. There is a little shine as the matte finish has worn off, but its still nice and white. I don't have sweaty palms or anything though, nor does it go through particularly heavy daily use. Importantly, take care not to strip the default screws on the outside shell of the joycons. Nintendo's screws are terrible and very easy to strip. I replaced the buttons the first time and one screw essentially cannot be taken out anymore. I'd HIGHLY recommend changing the default outer screws to the ones provided in the little bag that comes with the buttons. Those are much better. The interior screws do not have this issue.

Let me start by saying that while this set isn't perfect, it's darn close and is a cheap way to make your switch look awesome. Below I will list the he positives and negatives and areas I think they could improve this product. I will also attach pictures for reference. Positives: 1. Button Quality - From what I can tell, the buttons are perfectly molded to fit and mimic the stock buttons perfectly. Use a nail file to trim any pieces of plastic that may protrude after removing the piece from the mold. 2. Appearance - These look great! The color I chose looks exactly as I expected. After showing a friend, he was really impressed and thought it looked really good. 3. Price - Great price and an affordable way to customize your switch. Cheaper and easier than a shell exchange. Negatives / Potential Improvements: 1. Not All Buttons Included - The set comes with most buttons, but is missing the plus, minus, screenshot, and home buttons. While I could forgive excluding the home and screenshot buttons, I was very disappointed not to get plus and minus buttons. It would be great for the joycon to have a completely unison look. 2. No Button Outlines - While the buttons do have the lettering to indicate what button it is, the lettering is the same color as the button, so it makes it very hard to see. While this isn't an issue for us passionate Switch users, it could make things a little confusing if I'm playing with non-switch owner friends and I say "hurry, press (button name)" and they look down at the controller to see where the button is and have to squint to find it. In future revisions, it would be awesome to see maybe the main buttons still have the lettering outlined. 3. Concerns About Paint Rubbing Off - These buttons have a more matte feel than the stock buttons which can feel a little slick at times. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your personal preferencea, but it doesn't bother me. However, I am concerned that due to this lack of clear coat on the buttons, that the paint may begin to rub off over time with extended use. Of course I just received these, so it's not an issue yet, but I could see the issue arising in the future. 4. Lacking Tool Set - While they do include the srewdrivers that you will need, if you are going to do this button replacement, I recommend having some prying tools and a good pair of tweasers handy. It would have been nice to have these included, but fortunately, I had some laying around and it made the installation so much easier. Conclusion: Despite some minor imperfections, this is still an awesome upgrade for your switch. If the seller decided to embrace one or more of the above suggestions in the future, I think this would be one hell of an amazing product.

Took several hours but I found it to be quite fun once I got the hang of it. Buttons fit perfectly and I didn’t have to shave them or cut them any special way I just twisted and pulled. I HIGHLY recommend practicing with an old joycon first before taking apart the ones you want to replace because the kit does not include the tool you need to pry the battery out with and you have to use your fingers which caused me to pull the battery out the wrong way and short circuit it (good thing it was an old joycon). Overall, the buttons are great, everything works and clicks fine, just be careful and patient.

eXtremeRate's Button replacement kits are amazingly high quality, have the exact same 'soft touch' texture/paint as their shell replacements, and simply slot right into place just like they were OEM Nintendo supplied parts. The one negative I can think of is that the buttons are entirely one color, meaning the ABXY button letters won't be a contrasting color, but I personally think that it's a more symmetrical, unified look. I suggest getting the buttons and at least the joy con shells of you plan on swapping everything, it's much, much easier to do everything in one go, as disassembling the joy con can be a headache. But you get an entire set of Switch screws, so when you put everything back together, you can throw those awful Y-bit Nintendo security screws away and only need a Phillips driver for any disassembling done the road. tl;dr version: 10/10, would reccomend, get shell kit too and replace everything at once, better feeling quality than original parts, wish I'd changed to these sooner.

Franchement c'est trop cool ces boutons ! Il faut etre très minutieux lors du démontage et remontage, je vous conseille d'utiliser une pince à épiler pour placer les boutons. Avec de la patience et de la concentration ça le fait, pas besoin de détacher les mappes, c'est tellement cool ! Merci 🙂👍

Alle Teile kamen unbeschädigt und mit extra Schrauben, Sprungfedern und Werkzeug zum öffnen der Joycons gut verpackt nach 2 Tagen an. Ich hab sogar mehr Knöpfe bekommen als angegeben ist. Zu den bereits abgebildeten Knöpfen bekommt man zusätzlich noch Minus, Plus, Screenshot und Homebutton wie man auf den Bildern sehen kann was mich äußerst erfreut hat. Ich gebe 4.9 Sterne. Das einzige was ich zu bemängeln habe ist das die Knöpfe echt extrem rau sind. Plus ist meine Knöpfe sind ein durchgehendes Weiß. Beim heraustrennen hab ich mit dem Messer die extra fitzel weggeschnitzt und die Farbe wird sich bei Weiß nicht abnutzen. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ All Parts arrived undamaged, with extra Screws, Springs and Tools for opening the Joycons after 2 Days. You get more Buttons than the Descriptions labels it. My Set came with the Minus, Plus, Home and Screenshot Button. I give the entire set an overall rating of 4.9 the only thing that i dislike is the fact that the Material of the Buttons is super rough which might smoothen out if you play long enough. For the Coloring i saw a lot of reviews where the color chips of over time. This will not be the case for the white ones. i had to cut some excess plastic of the Buttons so it can fit the Shell and for at least the Color White it has not been painted over but its in fact white Material so it wont wear off.
