The Guardfather Spike is a pretty cool gadget, and in a pinch I suppose it could be used as a defensive tool, but there are a few things you should be aware of.First, this is a fun gimmick, but not something I'd stake my life on. If you feel the need to carry a defensive tool other than a firearm, I'd stick with a knife, pepper spray, or taser. That being said, if you are a collector, like myself, or want a cool ice pick to show off at parties, you could do worse.Second, and more important, the trigger mechanism is a little sensitive. It once deployed inside a drawer that I shut too hard. Since the spike deploys extremely hard and fast, it could be dangerous if you're carrying it in a pocket, especially a shirt pocket facing your throat . . . you know, where most people carry pens.All in all, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. It's a very reasonable price for a very unique and fun item.

Rattles, loose, feels cheap, but what do you expect. With that said it's tough as nails. It just feels cheap. Put some locktite on the caps, they tend to come off real quick. This thing is a toy, expect a toy when you order it. It could be used as a DTAC weapon, but it's not very functional in that application. I am pleased with my purchase, and I have a ton of fun deploying it and playing around.

As is, its really weak goes thru 3 sheets of paper upon opening..and falls apart, parts flying everywhere CONSTANTLY... AFTER BUYING 5/16" rubber O RINGS to keep the end caps in place..and upgrading all the springs it blazes thru denim and 3 layers of cardboard upon opening..spend the few extra dollars on the upgrades at your local hardware store..making it 100 times more tactical and useful..other wise don't waste your money..you will be very disappointed...

Brandishing something really pointy can either be your best move or your worse mistake. this thing comes out quick and mean. Spring is so tough you can't reset it in your hand. hidden button is great idea,I'd hate for this this to pop out when not wanted! Heavy and well built; This goes to the top of my list for "easy to carry,self defense jewels" and is one of my new fav's. I got black and I'll be getting a pink one for my Wife for stocking stuffer! So far A++ product. Adults ONLY!

Pocket clip has a bad habit of holding the release button down so that it does not lock open, easy fix is to remove it. Threads on the end caps need to be lock-tighted as well. Otherwise, it's a cool weapon to show off.

Very nice wosh it was a lil longer but i like it. It also came earlier then it was suppose to so that was nice.

I carry my Guard Father with me when I don't have my concealed firearm on me and I feel secure in knowing that I can pull it out and just the sight and sound of the spike shooting out would make any person back off. Good quality product, thank you

Love it, JUST what they described and more. Showed a female friend of mine and she fell in Love with it, that it looked like a regular pen but was easy to get into action if needed. Hope she doesn't read this lol she's getting one for Christmas.
