Dictionary of Subjects and Symbols in Art 2nd Edition

It's fine, it has some information which may be useful. Though most of the information can be found out easily by a quick search on the internet. I mostly bought it because it was required for a college course. I doubt I will use it often, however, because it contains just basic information. It good for a quick glance or overview of a term

An excellent overview/reference work for symbology in Western art.

Great companion on the reoccurring themes throughout history. I enjoy the structure of the Book because the subjects are under themes (not individual works), and I can look up the theme on the internet and find a myriad of images. It is excellent for me.

An amazing book.

This was a very complete coverage of the subject. It is an excellent quick reference for the student, teacher, or collector.

I was hoping for more in the way of actual picture critiques. I would have liked to have seen an depiction of a recognizable old master and be walked through the symbiology of it.
