Does not work with all Sony camera's apparently
I purchased this to use with my Sony a57 camera but like many others who have reviewed this item it does not seem to sync with the other and the pictures come out dark no matter what setting you use. I attempted to use it on my back-up camera, an a200 and it had the same problems with it.

Useless
I bought it to replace a Maxxum Macro 1200AF which consistently overexpose when used with a Sony A330. The Bower SFDS14S doesn't sync in Aperture mode while the 1200AF does. A year later , after much testing I realized that it does work in macro mode and automatic mode. In aperture mode, it fires before the shutter is opened.

Great Device for Flash Photography
Very Good product at an excellent price. I am very happy with the results I am producing utilizing this flash ring.

Doesn't sync properly
The ring flash doesn't sync properly with the camera. Causes pictures to come out horribly dark. And also the adaption design for the ring and mount is pretty horrible. You literally have to keep turning the ring flash until it is tight with the adaption ring, no snap on type of design.

Didn't Work
This item appeared reasonably well made given its relatively low cost but it did not work. While it flashes, I think there was a sync/TTL issue regardless of shutter speed. I tried it in aperture priority, manual and automatic on both my Sony A-850 and A77 cameras.

Worked for 5 minutes
5 minutes after installing the light on my Sony SLT-55a, the camera was dead. Not positive the light caused it but I will not take the chance on putting it on my a300.
