I bought one for myself and another for a relative. And I chose this product because (1) it was from a reputable brand of tripods/positioners for cameras (like the famous GorillaPod line), (2) it folds extremely compactly (I'm a stickler for portability), and (3) the two parts of this product actually can be separated and used separately (more on that later).Usage: I bought this because the iPhone 6 actually has quite a good timelapse feature on it, but isn't easy to attach to a stable surface for long periods of time. I wanted the holder part to be able to screw into my standard DSLR tripod, to give me the options of placing it in different places, higher, etc. But the BONUS was that one could also use this as a phone holder for watching videos instead of taking them!First, sizing: it fits my iPhone 6 (across the side) just fine, even with a slim case on it. It DOES NOT FIT my brother-in-law's iPhone 6 Plus which has the Spigen NEO EX Hybrid Metal case on it: he has to remove the case for the holder to fit it.I love that this thing folds flat, like to almost the size of a lighter. And it has a little hole that you can use to attach it to your keychain. I don't do that, but you could. I would only be careful about whether having your keyring through that hole affects how you can/can't place your smartphone in it, and whether the keys themselves will get in the way (or clang against your phone during video taking).There are two parts to this thing: the smartphone holder piece (which has a standard 1/4"-20 thread tripod connector on the bottom), and the 3-legged tripod legs component which screws into the top piece.Smartphone holder: As mentioned, it folds flat, and though not ROCK solid, feels well built enough that I wouldn't worry about it falling apart during use in the field. The surfaces that contact your phone when holding it have a rubberized coating so it won't scratch, and those prongs have tiny "lips" that make sure your phone won't slip out. The grip is held by a hidden elastic of sorts, and feels like a quality setup: quite a firm, stable grip on my phone!Tripod: if you look at the provided quicksheet, there's an easy way to open up the legs by dragging a finger with one of the legs around in a circle; be sure to follow that, because otherwise you're just guessing which leg is the one that's stationary and which one will open it up. The lightgrey tips of the legs are again rubberized for grip, though I wish they would have chosen something darker to not get dirty so easily.Flexibility1: You can't adjust the HEIGHT of the tripod, only the direction in which your phone is pointing. And even that is somewhat limited, meaning if you want to shoot the camera upwards you may have to flip the phone around so its screen is towards the stand. Not a dealbreaker, but something that might annoy you if you had to deal with it a lot.Flexibility2: This holder is deigned to hold ACROSS your phone sideways, and thus hold your phone in landscape mode (the wide way). If you wanted to have it portrait-oriented (i.e., vertical photos/videos), the holder won't fit like that. The workaround I found is to keep the holder going across your phone, but fold up all the legs together and slant them so they become a big leg for this stand, and prop it from behind.Stability: the whole point of a tripod is to be more stable than we could hold it by hand. And it does keep its position well (provided you use a coin or something to screw the base on tight enough), at least when new: I'm not sure how it holds up after repeated and long-term use.

This is same as the JOBY GorillaPod Micro 250 GP15 Always-On Camera Tripod for Point and Shoot..., with the addition of a gadget to grip the phone.Excellent design, compact, folds out of the way when not needed.With this and a good camera/phone, you can literally have a very nice tripod+camera setup in your pocket, rather than carting around ten or twenty pounds of DSLR, tripod, and lenses in a bag.Took me a while to realize this, but its the artist, not the camera, who makes the picture. The greatest camera/lens/equipment in the world is not going to improve your composition, or your location. All it will do is to help make your picture-taking a bit easier. Neither bad composition, timing or location will improve with a big, fancy rig.Which is where this tripod/stand comes in. You, your phone or subcompact camera, and this stand is all you will need for a majority of your pictures. (excluding taking long-distance animal photos on the Serengiti, Mt Everest and such, which are not your daily events anyway).Obviously, opinions differ, you might think I am nuts.

I have owned quite a few stands for smartphones over there years and I have to say that this Joby is one of my favorites. The design itself is solid and for the most part everything stays where you put it once you set it up. It has the added bonus of detaching from the base to allow for easy attachment to a tripod or minipod stand for photographs. The clamps themselves are easy to manipulate and the entire stand compacts into an easy to carry trinket that can be conveniently placed in one’s pocket.There are only two issues that I really have had with this stand. The first problem would be the tripod arms on the bottom of the unit. Once in place they tend to stay just fine so long as you don’t move it however they do have a tendency to shift if you move the unit around just from friction created on the placement surface. This is very minor and a quick adjustment will put it back where you need it. The second is a faulty joint in the upper clip section of the device. The point at which the bottom clamp folds out will weaken over time on some of the earlier models causing an eventual breakage at the joint. Joby is aware of this issue and is working on having their product designers fix the problem.I would also like to take this time to commend Joby’s customer service. When my original stand broke I contacted them to see if I could buy a replacement clamp for the unit. Instead of selling me the piece, they asked for photos of the broken part and were extremely helpful in replacing the piece for me as they explained it was a known engineering fault and the product was still under warranty. They received all the information I had provided and I received a replacement part in about a week. I was so impressed by their customer service that I ordered another stand from Amazon so I could keep one at work just to support them further.I did take one star off due to the faulty clamp joint. Even though their customer service is stellar it doesn’t change the fact the problem does in fact exist. All in all I would still highly recommend this if you are looking for a smartphone stand. I have used this on a Galaxy S4 and an HTC One M8.

High quality all-metal construction. The phone mount screws on and off a standard tripod screw. So the tripod is perfect for small cameras as well.

YouTubeでこの商品のレビューを見て、軽くて持ち運びしやすそうだったので、購入しました。使用目的としては、旅先でのスマホでの動画撮影と、仕事でスマホ向けのWebサイトのコーディング やアプリ開発をするので、スマホ画面を見やすい角度で固定してくれるスタンドを探していました。この商品のホルダーは、横置きでしか固定できませんが、ホルダーの片側の爪をたたんで、もう片方の爪の上に乗せることで縦置きも出来ることを発見しました。固定はされていないので、倒そうとすれば倒れますが、画面をタップするぐらいなら倒れません。USBをさしたままで縦置きできるのも、良い点です。機能性は素晴らしいですが、デザインについて細かい部分で1点だけ。私はブラックを購入しましたが、脚のゴム部分はグレーではなく、全体が黒1色の方が良かったです。
