Can these be connected to a reciever, if so how?

Yes they can. Think of your receiver as two parts: one part is a pre-amp/video processor and the other is an amplifier(s). So you can use a few of these APA 150s and connect them to the PRE-OUTs on the back of your receiver. Depending on your model you should have at least six connections(for 5.1) or more if you have 7 or 9 channel audio. Use the appropriate pre-out for the speakers you want to amplify with the Dayton APA. You could start with Front L&R and then do Center, and so on. Then connect your speakers to the APA and your all set. FYI many say this makes a fine subwoofer amp so you can use it for the sub pre-out as well if you have a passive sub or want to up the power to an amplified sub. Good luck!

Check out the Parasound ZoneMaster 2 or ZoneMaster 2350.  Both have subwoofer outputs.

Does the fan work intermittently? My amp works but do not see the fan moving

The fan only operates when the internal temperature of the Dayton APA150 reaches a high enough level to damage its circuitry.   In my experience this amplifier runs warm after an hour or so at fairly high volume levels, however never hot.    I use the APA150 to power some high quality bookshelf speakers ranging in sensitivity from about 83db@1watt to 88db@1watt.   To the person who says that the APA150 does not have a fan,  I don't believe that this amplifier was ever manufactured without a fan. It has been in constant production since about 2008.    The APA150 is a great amp for the money offering the flexibility of an integrated amplifier, or a dedicated preamplifier that can be used with an external active preamplifier (active meaning that the preamplifier has its own power supply - either within its own chassis or external to the preamp).

Could you stream directly to this amplifier using the Chrome audio casting device?

I am streaming to this amp from an apple extreme feeding from my iphone.  requires a cable with RCA  male plugs on the end. I plug into the extreme with a mini stereo plug.
