Impact Evaluation in Practice (World Bank Training Series)

I regret buying it
This is a deadly boring book to get through. The author's writing style really made it difficult. There are some important concepts and ideas buried under all that bad writing. For what it's worth, I would not recommend this book to a friend. I regret buying it.

Straightforward and Practical
This is a very good guide for impact evaluations. At Abt Associates, we have used this book for several trainings for monitoring and evaluation staff and it has really been appreciated due to its straightforward discussion of rigorous evaluation techniques. It is a good reference for both domestic and international practitioners.

Just what the eval doc ordered
This is a great thorough how to guide that we are using for a graduate class. Very useful information not aggregated elsewhere. Much recommended.

Nice book vulgarizing complex issues.
I highly recommend this book for everybody wanting to know more about impact evaluation, but above all to all these people in development agencies, ministries or executing units who have to design and execute projects/programs. They could do much good by prospectively creating design conditions that may facilitate easier generalization of project benefits or executing project with a wider view in mind.Without going into too much detail and theoretical justification, this book presents in a very concise and understandible form the techniques that can help evaluators/designers of projects to draw/prepare the RIGHT conclusions out of observation, measurement and comparison. This book is an easy read, when interested in this subjet.
