Compact and functional clock radio - quite like it!
This is a very nice clock radio for the price. I'm happy with the purchase, and feel that the pros far outweigh the cons. If you're searching for a good basic clock radio, then this is a very good choice.PROS: I really loved how you simply plug it in, and the clock sets itself to the proper date and time (and supposedly it will reset itself when we change from Standard to Daylight Savings time). Very slick! The time display is large (I'm very nearsighted, but I can easily read it in the middle of the night), and I like the blue color. There are 3 levels of dimming available. Two alarms can be set, and being able to set the alarms for "weekday" and "weekend" is very handy. You cannot miss the SNOOZE button, it's super easy to find no matter how sleepy you may be. The electric cord also serves as the radio antenna, and I was able to clearly tune in FM stations even with the clock radio being far away from the bedroom windows. The "footprint" is pretty small, this clock radio takes up very little room on my end table (about half of the space for the clock radio that it's replacing). The documentation that comes in the package is easy to understand, and will definitely help you learn the setup and usage of the unit.CONS:Tuning the radio station presets is not at all user friendly, and it isn't described very well in the instructions. The radio speaker quality is "decent" but nothing special (not that I was expecting much in terms of sound quality at this price point!)The "weekend" alarm icons are hard to see when the unit is on the dimmest display; the workaround is to temporarily increase the brightness if needed to verify that Sat / Sun are displayed properly. The radio only picks up FM stations (no AM)For the price and the functionality, I think this radio is a very good buy.

Great Alarm Clock!
My old Emerson self setting alarm clock was a pure war horse. It lasted 10 years. Survived everything I did to it. Unfortunately back then the clock had a "scan" button to figure out the time and date. If something happens to that button you better pray it doesn't get unplugged. Flash forward 10 years later. I had my place repainted. Even though I asked the painters to avoid unplugging it, and what will happen if you do, yup, they unplugged it. Instant loss. Clock still worked, but since the button didn't work it was gone. I liked that clock. Remembers everything. Lose power, no biggy! Still wakes you up! So when this was dead, that was serious hardship for me. I'm also somewhat hard of hearing. That makes alarm clock hunting a special pain in the rump for me. Most alarm clocks are pretty worthless to me. I need the Thunder of the Gods to compensate for my poor hearing. So this was going to be hard. Yup! I looked at several Emerson's. Several reviews turned me off. This one seemed decent though on reviews. It is. It arrived in good condition so I was hopeful. Plug it in and it figures the rest out all by itself. No buttons to hold down! Setting the alarm was pretty easy. You can run it in chime, buzzer and radio wake up mode. Buzzer is useless for me. Chime wasn't bad. Music was best. It has a volume button on it. Nice touch. It's cranked all the way up. It doesn't turn on with the Thunder of the Gods volume at first, but with in a minute it's annoyingly loud enough. The speaker quality u'd never confuse with a dedicated stereo system, but hey, it's 20 bux......what do you really expect? Since this clock is mission critical for morning pills I only need 1 of the 2 alarms. So I didn't mess with the 2nd alarm. The display is huge. It is bright. VERY bright blue. If you are annoyed by anything short of an utterly devoid of light bedroom, this isn't ur clock. Nope! But if you don't mind a slight blue glow to the bedroom, this is a great choice! The clock has so far after a week kept PERFECT timing so that's a relief. Great clock!

It says itself!
This alarm clock is great because it sets itself once plugged in and it has a USB port for charging your phone or ear buds. The alarm is easy to set. There is a feature I would add to this, the dimmer needs a 100% dim setting. The snooze button doubles as a dimmer button that has levels. I need a 100% dim setting or else I have to turn away from it or block my view if it.My wife could use a good white noise feature in addition to the dimmer because otherwise she has to use a fan.
