Basslines SJ5-3S Quarter-Pounder Pickup for 5-String Jazz Bass Set

I put a set of quarter-pounders in my custom built 4-string jazz and loved the tone, so I thought I would also try them on my American Deluxe Jazz 5-string. The Seymour Duncan quarter pounders (not Bassline, which was the previous brand name) were somewhat easy to install on the active bass, but it took a bit of effort as Fender had an odd way of handling the ground wire. All in all it took about an hour, and the result is really great. I love the scooped tone of these SD quarter pounders, and the volume is much higher. I find I'm playing mostly in passive mode now, but the active tone has improved as well. The growl is back! They are definitely worth it. Very happy.

If you like big sound, these are the right pickups for you. They make your bass sound huge and full. Lots of low end without getting muddy or distorted and still has plenty of shine.

They are just what I won’t sounds great

I replaced the pups on my 18-year-old Jazz V with these to bump up the output a little. It worked. These retain the classic single-coil sound, but they're hotter, so if you need overdrive or distortion, these will help a lot. Even if you're playing clean, these are just punchier than stock.

Its a pasive pickup, but its really loud almost like an active pickup.

I put a set of these in a 5 string neck-through bass that I built a couple of years ago, and they sound amazing! Clean and clear with plenty of output. I'm getting another set to put in my build project this summer.
