Powerful Precision Weighing Scale When Accuracy is Critical
This is a fabulous High Precision Digital Weight Scale. I am most pleased I can push a button, weigh my measuring unit, then hit the button on the left, which subtracts the weight of the weighing tray so that the screen reads 0.000 g and then, since I need to have precisely 0.015 grams of a powder, easily get this precise amount. Then, with a large flip open cover, I can leave the weighing tray on the unit, my weighed power in the weighing tray, put down the cover to protect the powder, and have this meager dosage ready to take with my 120 mg. dosage of Armour Thyroid medication for my thyroid at 4:00 a.m. I don't even have to find my bifocal glasses to see anything! Doing this, this way, saves me over $50 monthly. , I couldn't have asked for a better product to assist me. I did a lot of research to find the proper scale, and this one easily meets all my powder needs for any of my multiplicity of supplements where the dosage is 1/8th of a teaspoon or less up to 20 grams. Currently I use other teaspoons which I level off with a knife. And, once I figure out how to use a drop, a smidgen, a pinch, a dash or a tad, I will be using those measuring tools with this unit as well. Additionally, I could use this unit because it also weighs oz, ct , ozt, dwt, gn, and utilized high precision sensors to ensure the advanced accuracy of 0.001 grams and capacity of 20 grams. The set comes with a set of tweezers, weighing tray, with a dipping area if you are working with fluids, and two 10 kg calibration weights. The unit also features a flip open cover to protect the scale's platform besides a back lit screen for easy visibility. In fact, since the summer of 2014 I have been having hypothyroid issues, where my dosage of Armour Thyroid has had dramatic swings, the loss of 40 lbs. over 3 months, the weight gain of 40 lbs over 2 months, and intense chronic fatigue, etc. Then, when I learned (no benefit of my MD or Pharmacy) to separate iron and magnesium by 4 hours before as well as after my thyroid pill consumption, my thyroid medication settled down to more normal numbers. But, my thyroid is still in a state of flux. I also commenced dicing a raw beet a day to assist my thyroid as well as eating 2 Brazil Nuts daily for my selenium level. This caused my thyroid medication to be reduced to 135 mg. daily from 150 mg and may again decline as my system gets regulated with beets, Brazil Nuts, and no magnesium or iron within 4 hours either side of my thyroid medication. Yet, this dosage of 135 mg. is not a normal one and becomes 2 prescriptions, and thus costs me for 2 prescriptions. Got to love the drug companies who've really figured out how to .... I refused to purchase the 0.015 mg dosage (the size of a tiny nail head). But, I've a goodly supply of 300 mg thyroid medications, which I was slicing into 1/2 or 150 mg which would cost me for 1 prescription and last for 2 months, thus saving me $50. My dosage used to be 90 mg. This kept my medical cost reasonable. So, I ground up the excess supply into powder. Each evening, I use my Heathrow Scientific HD 15909 Spatula with Flat End and Spoon End, 9" Overall Length, to select a wee amount of this powder, and put it in a measuring cup on this scale. It is so easy to get precisely 0.015 grams. If I need tweezers to select a smaller amount of powder, I do that as well. One of the greatest features of this Smart Weigh is the fact you can easily weigh the tare (weighing tray), and once you have that, that tare weight unit is known by the system. Then, push the button on the left, your scale will read 0.000. This makes it so easy for me to read precisely 0.015 grams. I truly hope this information is of help to you. And if any of you have thyroid issues, it doesn't matter which thyroid medication you use, the thyroid medication will not work correctly unless you separate by 4 hours your taking of magnesium or iron, and iron is in everything except for milk products and a few candies. Even yogurt which has fruit on top has iron in it and will interfere with your medication. This period is 8 hours and not a millisecond less! I'm so glad I made this purchase and it has a place of honor on my kitchen counter.

Perfect for accurately portioning medications for my cat! Very accurate for milligram amounts.
I got this tiny scale to accurately split pills for my cat. I found that my pill splitter was extremely inaccurate, and when the dose increased to 3/4 tablet, a pill splitter would not work. I can now accurately cut a pill into several pieces and get to the correct dose by adding small pieces to the little measuring pan to get to the 67mg dose I need. Very quick and easy. It comes with two calibration weights - one varied a tiny bit from 10g, but one was exactly 10g and works for periodically checking the accuracy. I have been using the scale daily for 3 months and it continues to be very accurate. I could not manage the dosing without it. The little pan is especially helpful. Keep in mind that the total capacity is only 20 grams, which is less than an ounce. It is definitely not a kitchen scale.

Nice Little ACCURATE Scale
More accurate then my $170.00 OHAUS YJ103 Jewelry/Gold Scale, I compare the weights I was getting against the YJ103 Digital scale and my trusty OHAUS Made RCBS 10-10 Beam scale and the readings were close to perfect if you plan on using this to weigh in Grains for Reloading. Now the reason I gave it only 4 Stars is because of two Minor things. #1 It has no Built in Bubble level nor can you screw the 4 Pads/Feet on the bottom to make it level, which is a necessity if you want accuarte weights, I plan on buying a small piece of flat Marble Floor Tile from Lowe's or HD to set this little bugger on and to that I will install 4 little pads that can be adjusted in or out. #2 The weighing area this scale is about 1.5" round (About The Size Of A Checker Game Piece) which has a stamped impression in it the size of a Quarter, which is just big enough for the TINY TINY pan they include in the box, I tried to use the Bigger Plastic Pan that came with my OHAUS and it fit but was unstable because of the recessed stamped impressing in the middle, I found that if you moved it (Bigger Pan) a tiny bit the readings were all over the place, So I'm going to search and see if I can find a nice little pan that will fit so I can Trickle Powder into it. Other then that this little scale is worth every Penny of the $16.00 I paid, In fact I wish I would have purchased this Brand instead of the JUNK OHAUS I'm now stuck with and DO NOT TRUST.

Excellent choice for weighing pet meds
I needed a replacement millligram scale to weight out daily powdered meds for our pooch, and this was my choice. So far, it has been excellent. Small size yet functional and accurate. Unlike a prior scale we used, this one does not suffer from a “floating zeropoint” issue at low weights. I can tare out the weighing planchet to zero, and then sprinkle the powder until I get the weight I need. With some scales in this range, trickling tiny amounts fails to register on the scale—big problem. I checked the accuracy using some known low weight items, lower than the 10 gram weights provided, and it’s spot on. I would recommend for this use. Just don’t expect it to be able to weigh out single digit low milligram quantities…you’ll need to spend hundreds of $$ to do that.

Great scale for accurate small measurements!
This is a great little digital scale. I make jewelry, so I have to measure in both grams and carats frequently for precious metals and gemstones. This scale is perfect, as it weighs up to 50 carats (20g) with accuracy to plus/minus 0.001g. I've found it to be very accurate, though if using the separate tray that comes with it and the TARE function, I generally do several measurements to be sure. Do ensure that you place the tray on the center of the plate, or you can get inaccurate readings. Always make sure the scale is placed on a flat supportive surface, which also helps ensure accuracy. Calibration is very easy, and this should be done before the scale is used. If you have lost the manual, I have posted the process from the user manual in the questions section since a couple of the answers were not correct for the 20g model of this scale. I noticed that some reviewers have said the scale is flimsy and easily broken. I have not found that to be the case, but I don't keep the scale itself on my workbench. Instead, I keep the scale and the included components in the original case as it is lined with form fitting foam. I then store it and my larger scale on a separate shelf unit next to my bench that does not get jarred. If you keep it in the box, you'll also have less chance of losing the tiny components that come with it along with the second calibration weight and the handy user manual! I've used the scale for several months now, and my judgment is that it is a keeper. The manual also is in good English (rather than a bad translation from another language), another bonus! The instructions are in several other languages, including French and Spanish.

Inconsistent, unresponsive, frequently inaccurate, hard to tare, won't sit level
Owned this scale for about a month and use it for some at-home molecular gastronomy (Yay kitchen science!) Pros: * Good price for scale that measures 0.001g Cons: * Scale does not ACCURATELY measure 0.001g. * It is not responsive - by which I mean if you put something on the scale it doesn't consistently change the weight reading. For example. If you put a $0.25 coin on the scale it should read 5.5g, more or less. However, when adding a second identical coin, it may increase by 5.5g, or 3g, or by nothing at all. * The feet aren't self-leveling or even adjustable. Which is bad news if you don't have perfectly level granite, glass or stainless countertops to work on. Why? Because on a typical kitchen counter, the feet won't ever be level, so the whole unit rocks and cannot set itself to 0.000 because it's constantly in motion. * The lid looks great for keeping everything contained, but in truth it just gets in the way and you can't fold it all the way open since it's taller than the scale. * The weigh pan is next to useless. It rocks and doesn't sit still on the scale, and the inside has a brushed finish, so if you're weighing fine powders beware, some of what you weigh sticks to the pan. And when you're dealing with fractions of a gram, that can make a big difference. * When you tare the scale you have to press quite firmly on the buttons, and that seems to register as weight on the scale, making taring the thing a nightmare of sneaking up on it and hoping it doesn't realize you've touched it. It regularly takes me at least a couple of minutes to tare the scale, and then when I remove the full pan, empty it, and replace it on the scale, the scale shows a negative number, which in turn makes me doubt the accuracy of what I just weighed. * But really the biggest complaint I have is the lack of responsiveness. Put 3 x 0.5g items on the scale it might read 1.5g (awesome) - but if you remove one item it might reduce the weight by 0.2 or 0.7 or anything in between. remove a second item and it might not change the weight at all. Summary: This would be an awesome scale if it did the one thing it was supposed to do: consistently and responsively give accurate weights of items placed on it. But it doesn't.
