If you want a good safe, you need to do some reading first, like the Forbes 12 Aug 2015 article written after a 3 year old broke into a safe. Read about UL 1037 RSC standards for personal safes. You’ll find that most safes are opened in minutes with simple tools. I created a crack in this one with minimal force and a pocket knife, which would then allow a screwdriver or two, and then open in under 2 minutes. Why the 5 stars? For your car, with the lock and cable, it’s enough to make a robber look somewhere else. AND you get two for a great price. But even better, use it as a decoy!! Put something heavy inside and maybe even attach the cable to something in the home. Burglars think they got a gun and run off with it. Then, hide the real gun somewhere better. Even the 600 lb safes can be broken open with crowbars (google it). I was broken into by 3 seasoned robbers, and they looked in all the classic places. Even under my mattress and in a planter! They got my 9mm accidentally left in the nightstand. They carried off my 60 lb digital Sentry Fire safe, but could not get it open, and were caught while fleeing. If I had bolted it to the floor, they might have pried it open anyway. Where did they NOT look at all? The bathrooms and kitchen. From what I’ve read, the hiding place is more important than the safe. JMO

I'll edit this review depending on what happens next.Bought this because I want to go target shooting after work and I don't want a gun box visible in my car -or easy to remove from it.The boxes arrived yesterday. Aside from "they're metal", I can't tell anything about them, because they both arrived locked.. and there were no keys.Can't tell you anything about the cable, either. That was also missing.
